This thread is for the 2024 Draft Order.

Through the trade period I will try and keep it as up to date as possible, but I am one person so please be patient.

I have also set up threadmarks on the round updates, and will do the same through the trade period as picks change hands. This allows you to put the thread in reader mode, only seeing updates, or to jump back and forth to particular trades that may be of interest. To access this feature please use the button at the top right corner of the thread.

Tag me if you notice anything that isn't quite right!

Some picks swapped this year are future picks, in the 2025 Draft Order. That order can be found here:

Barrass (WCE) to Hawthorn with pick 63 for 2025 F1, F2 & F3 (all Haw) New

West Coast trade Tom Barrass and their ??? 2024 ??? R4 selection (tied to West Coast; i.e., pick 63) to Hawthorn in exchange for 2025 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks (all tied to Hawthorn).

Given the way it is worded I think they mean pick 63, but it could also be a typo indicating that West Coast traded their 2025 R4 pick?

Hey Lore

You’ve got pick 81 with Hawthorn which is West Coast’s R5. That was never included in any trade so should still be with West Coast

Big stakes draft pick I know but just thought I’d point it out

Hi Everyone, has anyone done a mock of which picks might be swallowed up matching bids this year? Giving us an idea of where picks in the 50's might actually be taken? Cheers in advance

Whats the feeling on what Essendon will do with 28+31?
Trade them out pre draft for future second rounders?
Then use the future seconds to trade back in?
Keep them and use them to match bid on draft night?
Use them to trade up on draft night before kako bid + future pick.

We have to be able to match Kako so they would both end up being used in the bid I imagine.

Most likely scenario imo is that Kako goes in the teens and we end up with Kako for pick 28 and our pick 31 will slide up to 20 spots after the points have been harvested to match the bid (So most likely around 10 spots I think, so it'll be an end of 2nd round pick). So perhaps we have Kako, approximate picks 40, 41, 46, 53, 54, 65.

With two other players to be matched and both probably before Kako, everything will move down a couple of spots for those, and then move up a couple as Brisbane and Gold Coast match those bids.

The bid-matching shouldn't impact on the draft anywhere near as badly as it has in the past, with less players being matched, and clubs limited in the number of picks they can take to the draft based on their open list spots, so they can't take 15 picks to the draft and use 10 of them to match a bid anymore.

Correction: Pick 81 belongs to West Coast New

Finalised Draft Order (Pre-Draft) New
As in DFAs and such? (Please don't make me list all the delistings as outs).
No I need to win a draft picking contest so I want the actual players going to be taken. ;)
