Review Grade your team's trade period

Yeah I don't mind the split of 3 when you consider the lack of top end stand outs, just 14 for Baker. Just feels like, why would you do it? At least get a 20s pick back from Richmond
We did it because our list manager is dumb and committed too early
The timing of the trades didn't help either. When the Baker trade did happen, Richmond had already traded out their useful picks so they had nothing to give us.

B

Went entirely as expected.

First pick and steak knives for Smith. No other activity.

Kept all of our future picks which I think is important. We may well trade back into the draft on the night if there is someone left we really like but on balance our picks next year are more likely to be better than our picks from this year so better to sacrifice this year instead.

End of the day if Smith gets back to his best form it will be an A. If Smith ends up a disaster it will be a F. Not a lot of middle ground when we look back at this in 5 years time.

Crows, a B+.
The reason I say that is because we wanted Luko, and if we had of got him as well for a F1, it would have been a A+.
Not getting everything we wanted does drop us down a grade.

3 months ago i was here telling people Bakers value would be around pick #15 - I was told i dont know how trades work
Also posted we will get Rioli plus more - And again I was told i dont know how trades work
Mentioned we would get #10 + #11 for Bolton - I was told i dont know how trades work

A - Richmond they extracted max value for 3 loyal servants would have been A+ If the eagles had paid Graham enough for Band 3

Its already A+, you got an extra 20s pick in value out of Baker, you got nearly pick 6 of value extra from Rioli, and you got that little upghrade on 10+18 for Bolton.
The graham bit is completely irrelevant

Very happy with Tigers trade period.
With Dusty now joining Cotchin, Riewoldt, Edwards, Houli, etc in retirement, it just feels like the end of an era and time to embrace a new generation by going all in on the draft.
It's a shame to lose Baker, Bolton, Graham & Rioli - but we can't sink any lower from this years wooden spoon and it opens up more opportunities for our younger players.

I thought we maybe went too early and too generous with trading all our late picks with Brisbane, but those picks would just have been used up as sweeteners in all our other deals and were unlikely to move into next years draft.
Also feels like we missed an opportunity to exploit free agency somehow with Jack Graham - which may have forced the AFL to actually fix it.

Collingwood C-
Chips in on derying gravity and heavily dependent on being able to grab diamonds in the rough late in drafts or grabbing and recycling mature players in the near term.
Not a knock on Houston / Perryman, but the core group will be another year older, do they really help offset that slide?
Think I am very much in the minority, though, most of my mob seem to be touching themselves in saucy and erotic ways over this year's trade outcome.
Good luck to them and I hope they're right
You try and win a Premiership when you think you are in the Window.

Perryman at 25 and Houston at 27 are not Super Old Really

We could got Picks but no Gurantee they be guns as we we don't have much to get a High Draft Pick or 2

Paid a lot for Bolton but f* me is a good addition
Massive need for the Dockers.

Tigers wanted picks 10,11 and Fremantle offered picks 10,18.

Richmond got pick 10,11 and Fremantle got 18 upgraded to 14 with a F3.

Alot to paid but it's our greatest hole a goal kicking forward and burst midfielder.

Ended the season with;

(2024 draft)
pick 8, pick 28, junk pick in the 70's

(2025 draft),
Essendon 1st, Essendon 2nd, Essendon 3rd

Ended the trade & draft season with;

(2024 draft)

pick 13 (Kako), pick 37 (Kayle Gerryn), Pick 39 (Angus Clarke), Pick 61 (Rhys Unwin), Pick 70 (Zak Johnson)

(2025 draft using this years draft / ladder positions)
Pick 5, pick 8, pick 25, pick 26, pick 80 I think this last one is wrong)

so overall, not a bad period for the single loss of Jake Stringer
