2024 Retro Round

The 2025 home jumper will likely only have minor changes with the likely addition of a heritage logo for the 100th anniversary of joining the V/AFL and hopefully the return of the red collar. As for the away jumper I've seen nothing but negative feedback, so hopefully we return to the old one.
The away jumper is hideous, all can agree, how it gets passed by the board is ludicrous. You could wear that for a one off, like the Thor thing, then bin it. The white indigenous away jumper should be our away jumper when needed, until a new simple inverse is back.
Can’t wait to see the end of the ‘toilet seat’ too.

This may be a controversial opinion, but I really enjoyed the Thor jumper one off. Would be cool to do a few more like that.
Mero who’s on BigFooty as an Essendon supporter has the excellent website footyjumpers.com. The AFL even uses it as a reference source. He also has a great podcast. He reckons we have the best jumper in the league, our home long sleeves with the hoops on the sleeves. A thing of beauty. And the worst ever in league history, Thor. I’m glad you liked it and fine for a one off, I was there and we won.

A red collar in the style of the toilet bowl would be worse than white I think so I hope that's not what you're suggesting - wouldn't mind a red collar looking like the new heritage jumper for a full season though.

As for the away jumper, I posted it elsewhere but this is what I want if we don't go back to the inverse strip:

Hopefully a gold afl logo aswell

Yes, fair enough. Each to their own though. I prefer to make more direct donations.

I think I'm just cynical about rampant commercialisation and excessive consumption (mostly stuff we don't need). It's so hard to avoid it though.
I'm with you on this. But I don't see any way to avoid it. I'd rather see one off specialty jumpers for people who like that sort of thing than jumpers covered armpit to waistline with adverts.

Over the years we’ve had at least a dozen official and unofficial emblems. This one is still my favourite.

I always thought that was a drawing with weird proportions and that no dog would look like that. But a quick search says some types of bulldog do indeed have forelegs/shoulders that far apart:

You wonder how they even walk, let alone run. And we know dogs with really short snouts tend to have chronic respiratory problems.

Would any beast in the wild evolve like this and survive? I doubt it. Selective breeding has a lot to answer for.

They were bred wrong for a while, but used to be much better and are getting better again.

Am I the only one who liked this away Jumper? or is it just because it reminds me of the 2016 Elimination final?

I was a fan of the logo Bulldog on it. Just not the red version of it. (or the red version of the hoops either)

Love this jumper. Would love to see the black shorts (home, Western Oval) or white that we wore on the day. Real retro wouldn’t have us in royal blue shorts. Anyway go ‘Scray’!!
When we do our every-2-year-redesign this needs to be it.

I'd be chuffed if we went into next season rocking this exact scheme. I love it.

We came close to this in 2008, without the proper collar or red cuffs:

It's a long shot because I understand wanting everyone of all ages to be able to sing the song. But I Would love the club to go all the way for Retro Round and Just bring back the Original Footscray rendition of our theme.

There is only one bad line in the original and we all know what it is.

What you don’t like to come out smiling after the game even if we win or lose?

I reckon they will. I remember the 80s version was played as we ran out for the fightback 30 year anniversary against Melbourne in 2019
