Review 2024 SF - win v. Umpires (Hawks)

Boak had a solid game except for when he took on three hawks players and got pinged, he shouldve just hand balled it. Apart from that really good game.
Thought he was proper winding the clock back there with the side steps but maybe it was a bit ambitious🙏

Didn't this clubs legendary coach Clarkson punch supporters after a loss ?
He was able to win a few flags despite his behaviour.
Yeah sure Ken's won **** all but that logic makes no sense given Clarkson's behaviour

So Many discussion points that could be covered off.

The lads were hard and desperate like the 04 prelim.

Evans, Sinn, Jnr Burger take a bow, the young lads under pressure took it on and did great, however can’t really critique anyone team effort. I will say sweet did cost us a couple with his D50 taps but his chase covered one of those off.

Rat was great, well done big fella, my love child Mitch was amazing and Rioli was worth every cent.

Our style and resilience has been quite durable this year minus the Geelong and Brisbane shellacking

Yep. The fairest player of all time, Dermott Brereton has joined the list of former Hawk players who think they have earned the right to lecture others on what is righteous on-field behaviour.

Any chance of anyone apart from Port fans call out the blatant hypocrisy of this BS pile-on? And of the AFL swallowing it all in asking for a 'please explain'.

Wah, wah!!
Put your rainbows out for Hawthorn.

Correct and I also have no issue with Ginnivan saying what he did during the week either.

Some Helen Lovejoy stuff all over the place at the moment
As a Port person, I have no issues with it either .. I would if I was a Hawthorn person! Dumbest thing to do prior to a match - EVER!

Also silly that Ken would say it affected him! Really? - what a sook! He and the other coaches should have LOVED it! It gave them some great ammunition to fire up the group.

Honestly if you are gonna shoot ya mouth be prepared for it to come back. Maybe Hawthorn should tell him to reel it in abit. Did they not watch how the Rochele thing unfolded..

I feel sorry for Sack Hinkley flag flyers still not being able to enjoy an incredible win.
Watched Buckley in On The Couch episode last Monday, they talked about the message from Ginnivan about seeing Grundy in Sydney next week. They all thought it wasn’t a good look and that Sam might have a quiet word to him about it. Buckley suggested that he'd had two years of 'quiet words' at Collingwood which he ignored, so 'see ya later'.

.... I took the kids to school, walked the dogs, and argued with my wife (today is our Anniversary, and apparently this means I shouldn’t be trying to watch football).
Haha .. had a laugh at that. Congrats, and please give your dear wife a hug from your friends in Australia!

(PS ... I have told my wife if a Port match falls on our anniversary, we celebrate the next day!) :laughv1:

Also umpires DO influence games. How many times have we seen it. Richmond prelim 2020.
Melbourne H&A match this year and last night.

The Dawks weren’t near it until they got an 8-0 run of frees and 3 goals from frees. There were harder tackles play on. Disgraceful and rigged, I was walking away from the sport if we lost last night, corrupt arseh*le competition it is.

Out of bounds, touched ball, disgrace.

The only Hawthorn campaigner left that I'd love to hear from is Ben Dixon.

Who plays in his place is not the issue. The real issue is Todd's career is as good as over. I did not notice Todd take a serious knock so this is not good news. It has reached the stage where Todd cannot see out a game and the slightest knock and he is concussed. Really sad but the writing is on the wall.
He got a knee in the back of the head. I guess that is enough these days.

Big bad bully Ken should have factored in that Ginnivan’s prefrontal cortex has not yet fully developed

As other's have said, it's not Foetus Boy Ginnivan who reacted badly to Hinkley's spray but older players in leadership positions especially 29 year old Sicily.

Which makes comments from Sam Mitchell and his ageing ex- team mates about Ken needing to act his age even more feckin' weird. All of them trying to take the focus of them and their team's failure to live up to their self generated hype.

Sorry, I might be having a senior's moment. But this is Dermott Brereton, the same guy who stood on guy's heads, ran through opposition huddles, left a trail of broken bones from his off the ball hits. The Dermott Brereton who had a song Dermie's a Hood named after him?

He's the moral arbiter of football behaviour now? He's offended by some post game banter?

Wowee I think I might’ve only just sobered up from last night.

What an unbelievably satisfying win. I missed the 2004 gf so that is the second best win I’ve seen live after the 2004 prelim.

Proved a lot of doubters wrong with that win.

Hopefully it’s a springboard and not our final yelp for 2024. We should go to Sydney with confidence now.
