How ****ing good is Blair

I feel last year we had almost forgotten how well he can operate even to the point that if Hardwick really pushed it wouldn’t be a massive loss if he headed up North

But this trade/draft period has really cemented how important his presence is with his ability to not just get deals done but execute plans as well

Hardwick got too involved in decisions by the end.

Allow Blair to cook and we will be fine. One thing Yze does do well is leave that space alone and to the experts. Sure, he tells them how he wants to play and types he would like but just allows them to cook.

You’ve heard that in the language from Blair and others. Harmony is good.

Blair is as good as anyone in this space. We are very lucky. His thoughts on forecasting and projecting not only players but the way the game will be played is great.

When people were having a go at FOS love and all on Jagga and I spoke on forecasting and projecting, there was a reason why Lalor and FOS were one and two in Blairs eyes.

Surely outside speed would be high on the list and with two picks we’d have the luxury of taking best available and then a top ranked need.

I don’t know anything about the draft yet but who are some of the speedsters worth keeping an eye on?
Think we will just go best available which likely fills the last 2 mid spots. There are a number of outside runners in this draft, not 100% sure on their pace.

We could well trade an F2 into the draft to pick 1 of these types up if they're not best available at the North pick.

we have a bit of it already with Hugo, Campbell, Hotton, Clarke, Banks. Getting these better quality mids to feed them the ball will be huge for their development.

Absolutely

I’m pretty useless with player forecasting and that kind of thing but even to me it’s clear the club could of gone for the sugar hit this draft

In the sense that we could loaded up on players who will walk out round one and look good and sell a few memberships but ultimately don’t have the upside to be that top tier player (Jagga)

But the clubs gone for long term investments, some may not even play a game next year or if they do just look kinda alright

An example in my eyes would be JHF vs Sheezal

Going by year 1 or two Sheezal looks the better player and by all accounts is and will be, but ultimately he will always be a smaller accumulator where JHF is the game breaker that will take longer to cook but ultimately will be the much better player to build and structure a gameplan around

I also think there is a bit of kicking about fast movement too. Lalor, Smillie and trainor will open teams up with their penetrating kicking skills.

Add in Banks and Juddy Clarke (and maybe Gibcus and Browne) that’s a lot of good long kicking skills.

Not a real world version of how it works. Successful coaches like Clarko and Hardwick earn the right to have their voices heard and can dictate what they want to an extent. 1st year coaches like Yze haven't earnt 💩 as the harsh fact of the matter is statistically speaking, ofds are he's probably rissoled in 3 years time. Once he's a successful coach he can start over ruling them. Til then he can offer some input and his bosses can consider what he's said.

Sheezel is the real deal. He’s far from just an accumulator. I think he has a higher ceiling than Pendlebury. Can do everything Pendles can but has more strings to his bow. He was 19 at the end of the season as well. Just absurd. Absolute freak already.

He’s up there with N. Daicos and H. Reid as generational (and I don’t like to throw that term around lightly). I also f***ing hate North.

I know what you mean and I didn’t really mean to imply that Sheezal is no good but more about what I think would be a better prospect to build a list around

To me Sheezal and Daicos (who I would absolutely love if they played for us) wouldbe behind Ried or JHF

Just as those foundation players that you actually build around if that makes sense

Excited for this draft.

Let’s suck it up for Dyson. Go blunt for Sharp.

Our first-rounder likely will be pick 1. Even if North improve, I don’t think it’ll be higher than 9th. So I think we’ll have two top-10 picks.

Not sure how deep the draft is, but with two top 10 picks, it won’t really matter

Need to see our needs more closely through 2025 season, based on our 2024 draft though, you would say we won't be looking at KPFs as a high priority, and with Gibcus, Balta, Trainor, Miller, Blight I'm pretty comfortable with our KPD stocks as they all gave a lot of footy left in them.

I think we need some outside run and class and speed, potentially a gun rebounding defender, and we still lack a medium sized forward that could complement some of the bigger guys we've just drafted.

I’m only here for moderate to low levels of moral support

This thread will be an all timer if the 2024 draft discussion is anything to go by.

But yes surely we will targeting mids. It's interesting we've pretty much completely traded out of the draft after Norths first

I’m just getting warmed up doing some circle work bit of liniment that norf board is going to bleed
