Would love to see north finish second last and then pick 1 and 2 are an elite ruck bolter and elite midfielder stand outs.

No thank you. Trade a mature developed ruck in when we start to become good in 3-4 years time. Find the next Nank or sign one in free agency as we will be one of the richest clubs in the land. Barely any seniors players in the prime age commanding any money.

I think Blair will be smart enough to not do that. 2 midfielders in who have dominated with contrasting styles with a much higher probability of turning into stars.

There would be rare exceptions of course if a Sam Darcy prospect appeared but those are few are far between. The best looking talls Emmettt and Duff Tytler aren't even 200cm for starters and have questions on their positions.

Not sure if this was posted previously but this write up about Louis Kellaway from the SANFL Futures game sounds promising, especially with our need for some burst from stoppage.

#10 Louis Kellaway (Sturt)
Midfielder | 183cm | 16/03/2007

Kellaway was one of the more eye-catching midfielders on Sunday, displaying a powerful turn of speed to take ground out the front of stoppages. He looked most effective as the second possession winner, being released on the outside where he could drive his legs and impact in bursts. His handling was terrific too, including with a half-volley in the second quarter, and a stoppage shark in term three where he hit the ball at speed.

That kid will be a success as knowing his family he’s gonna be as courageous as they come and get every inch out of himself….if he’s skilled that’s a bonus. Might explain why we happily off-loaded picks in next year’s draft knowing we have Kellaway coming as a later pick for next to nothing.

Cody played most of his bottom age season as a key defender at Colts level and for WA at the champs, impressing people enough to get himself firmly into the first round conversation for 2025. Late in the season Claremont threw him forward and he responded with back to back 6 goal games to demonstrate his elite potential.

Apologies for the poor audio quality at times in this one.

Has anyone heard where we are at re appointing a new national recruiting manager?
Maybe an inside appointment?
Rhy Gieschen did get a lot of praise from Blair in interviews.

Derek Hine is also available if we wanted to go for someone more experienced, but I suspect they look for an upcoming talent (as Chris Toce was) who fits with their current processes, rather than someone like Hine who may have their own very different way of doing things.

I think you misread my post. Hopefully the best available is a ruck and a mid. Banking on a Nank replacement is hard to do. If you can pull off an elite ruck, it would change the trajectory of our rebuild as they have time to develop. I doubt it will happen though. Think Naitanui or Kruezer types without injuries, it would be a dream. Very hard to get. We need an elite big King Kong ruck to replace Nank.

Emmett listed at 202cm now fwiw. I'm still not overly keen on taking a ruck in the top 5 but he's legit size it seems.

I think we have already taken our ruck in Sims, he's already the same height as Nank and should add a few more cm on given he's still only 18. It's also up to Samson Ryan at 206cm/24yo to see if he has what it takes over the next 3 years before Nank retires.

It would be dream. But it's exactly that imo. History tells us drafting rucks top 5 is not the way to go to find your ruckman.

Gawn pick 34
Grundy pick 46
Darcy pick 38
Rohan Marshall rookie pick
Nank pick 35
Goldstein pick 37
Witts pick 67
English pick 19

The most recent high pick example Luke Jackson pick 3 - Good player but gets well beaten in actual ruck contests. I would choose a few players take after him before him. Serong, Tom Green etc.

Nic Nat pick 2 all the back way in 2008 - Probably the only example I can track but to say worth it as he was very good. Context, horrible draft so not much else to choose from and he was very injury prone.

Kruezer pick 1 2007 - injury prone and not as good as Cotchin and Dangerfield.

I believe we will trade pick one next year to Adelaide for their 1st, 2nd and Soligo. Adelaide get Sharp and we still have 2 top 5 picks + Soligo who compliments our bigger midfield and replaces Prestia
