as an earlier poster highlighted
No matter how much easier their draw is If Cripps or to a lesser extent curnow goes down for any extended length of time it’s all over for the blues

Our depth is much better than theirs and even if Nick misses we can cope far better I believe

Super disappointed with this fixture, not only because it's very hard considering where we finished this year, but also I have a 6yo I wanted to take to as many day/twilight games as I could...and we've been given 1 day/twilight game as currently released.

It's all a bit shitty and a reason not to get a membership.

I don’t think our draw is particularly tough at all. We don’t play a double up against a 2024 top four team. We do play Brisbane of course but they finished fifth technically! The other two top 8 sides we play just fell into the finals.

Of course, no double up games against the bottom three either …apart from Brisbane, the rest of our opponents were pretty much mid table clubs in 2024, ranging between 7th and 16th.

First nine games will be tough but good news is we don’t play the Giants Power Cats or Swans again after that until finals. Or Bombers. We also get four road trips out of the way Including gather round.

From round 10 it opens up with Crows ( twice) Dees (twice), the holy trinity eagles North and Richmond , a getaway from winter v the suns, a return Carlton game and two home games against Dockers and lions.

That’s a very good run home as long as we have a respectable win- loss after nine games.

Isn’t the 6-6-6 ranking set post finals?

Yes roughly that’s the formula.

I couldn’t find a “ post finals” ladder and couldn’t be bothered doing it myself. my comment about Brisbane coming fifth was obviously a joke.

But there’s a big difference between double ups against 1,2, 7,8, 13, 14….. compared to say 5,6,11,12,and 17/18. Plus there’s also the random lottery of teams improving or weakening. Our “easiest” double up last year on paper was Hawthorn who were the bolter. We have them again this year courtesy of them finishing sixth. I’d rather them than any other team in the top six.

Wait, so Carlton play finals and then get to play the two worst teams in eagles and north TWICE, and we don’t play either twice.. make it make sense
Carlton are shit and fragile. The AFL are giving them a patronising ball tickle because we are consistent finals participants and they know we can handle it. Beating up on North and Richmond might give Curnow a crutch bulge but that wont help when the whips are cracking in late September

Carlton being 60 to 0 down in a final was one of their best results of ht last 30 years.
