Fixture 2025 AFL Fixture

This is shaping up to be the best fixture we have ever had. 2025 should be amazing.

Teams don't like 5 day breaks so I'm guessing at least one of the Thursday night games will be preceded by a Friday night game. That's a lot of national exposure which often doesn't lead to victories across our history but it's great for the clubs marketing department.

With our game against Richmond in Gather Round being an away game I am really hoping the AFL plays up the Shai Bolton rivalry and we get them at home and get them twice (especially given we are only getting North once). Getting Richmond and West Coast twice would be such a great result

I think it's almost 100% that one of our 11 home games will be against Richmond.

Not a fan of the Thursday night games at Optus. It’s extremely hard to get to the ground as all the buses are being used getting people home from work. Really doubt the crowds will be big at all.

Thursday and Friday night aren't really about the fans in the stadium. It's about the million people watching from their living room compared to just the die hards that watch our usual off broadway Sunday afternoon timeslot.

Thursday and Friday night mean $$$ for the club. Winning games in those timeslots helps attract sponsors and players from rival clubs.

Good of the AFL to give us the Thursday night game vs Essendon five (5) days after the 'away' game vs North though.

Hopefully Essendon play on the Saturday too but chances are they'll have the Friday night game.

Based in SA, the Sunday night fixture is easily my favorite. Less chance of conflicting with any kids sport typically and easier to plan to ensure i am home.

Yeah that's actually pretty good. They try to evenly distribute the 5 day breaks so every team has one or two. To get one off no travel is a massive bonus.

The article defined games starting at 6:10 vic time and later for the Sunday night slot - quite possible they’ve just shifted back the 2:40pm slot a bit particularly while DST is still a thing

Apparently they are going to have the opening round byes completed by round 4. So there shouldn't be any advantage for those teams in 2025. If anything having a break that early in the season is a disadvantage.

I asked the question last year, How can you have a bye when you haven't payed a game! Six months without playing a game, other than a couple of scratch matches.Still only one bye.Others get two.
We didn't get our only bye until I think it was round 13 last season.
