Fixture 2025 AFL Fixture

Honestly? **** em, the fixture double ups are hard sure, but you can tell the boys deep down have the hunger and drive to get the job done, I have this serious gut feeling that next year is the year that it all clicks, I may be wrong, and I'm happy to admit I'm wrong if it doesn't go well, but next year just feels different.

They can put their ducks in a row all they like, we're gonna knock each and every ****in one of them down, they haven't seen what we're made of yet, what we've shown is only a ****in glimpse.

Flagmantle is on the ****in table again baby.

Agree 100%.

The competition is more even than ever and Brisbane come back to the pack without Daniher.

We were disappointing against good teams in the last month of the season this year, but we only lost each of those games by a kick or two. Another year on the track, the addition of Bolton, Flagmantle looks a real possibility.

I honestly don’t get the love for the “less travel” of this fixture, it’s still 10 interstate games, that’s exactly the same as we traveled pre gather round, sure moving from back from 11 the last two years makes it feel better but it’s the same as 3 years ago.

Starting the season away then an 8 day break and finishing the season away when there's a pre finals bye make a difference. Also one of our 10 away games are at a neutral venue against the Tigers who will be bottom 2, that never happened pre-gather round.

Assuming they still want to keep a 23 game season It would be pretty simple to adjust the fixtures to make it fairer by having the double up games based on the current season ladder position, not the prior season.
1. Get rid of opening round
2. Rounds 1-18 each team plays everyone once, with a bye spread across somewhere in the middle, say rounds 8-10
3. After round 18 determine the double ups for round 19-24, using whatever current secret herbs and spices mixture they used but based on your round 18 ladder position this year, not last years form
4. Have a whole comp bye between round 18 and 19 for thus to be fixtured.
5. Get rid of the prefinals bye

Any arguments this couldn't be done logistically went out the window with covid when they fixtured almost a full season on the run

Re number three, How does that work? How can the AFL not fix the future games to favour so as to not favour the VFL teams?

The double up system would still be the same, in general terms if after round 18 you're top 6, your final six games of the year will be around 3 against other top 6, 2 against middle 6 and 1 against bottom 6. It's just based on this year's form, not last year's.
It will never be perfect of course unless you play every other team twice but it's still fairer than current system

Only got 1 bottom 6 double lol

Got screwed unless port and Sydney fall off
Carltons double ups are easier.

but thats the AFL for you.

As far as gather round is concerned.... Yeah we got Richmond at Barossa Valley. Nice if you like the wine regions.

I rather Richmond at Adelaide oval or even Norwood oval.

But yeah I rather richmond once at the MCG or Perth. They are gonna struggle regardless.

You can’t tell anything of the sort.

The last time they had a chance to prove this statement is true - the boys folded like meek puppies to a Port Adelaide side with relatively little to play for compared to us, when an entire season of hard work and effort was on the line.

Fans were outraged for about one day then the club cleverly used Ryan Daniels to float a kozzie Pickett trade rumour that turned out to be hot air and the team and coaches escaped a horrible failure of a performance with practically zero scrutiny and introspection from the wider fanbase.

Forgive me for being a skeptic at this point but I’ll believe the bolded when I see hard evidence that’s it’s true at AFL level and not a second beforehand.

Looks pretty good. Two MCG games, no bullshit venues besides gather round. Not sure if the Melbourne game at the MCG six days after gather round is ideal - do we fly home and then back to Melbourne again, or just go Adelaide to Melbourne and stay away a week?
Otherwise oretty good on first view. A month home uninterrupted is a bonus
Ill say we will fly to Melbourne after Adelaide otherwise we are just killing ourselves with travel.

Stay in Adelaide to Tuesday fly to Melbourne. Its actually a good time to knock over 2 B2B travel games and save 2 flights back and from perth.

We might be able to train at the MCG as well during the week.

Is it ideal no but its 1 week of the year and i dont mind it. I think in the long run this type of scheduling will help us.

Yeah it's a shame we didn't get them twice. We're 4/5 over the last couple of years from memory, with a couple of great MCG wins.

At least we've avoided TIO/Trager park though. Great chance to go for the hattrick at the G.
We aint getting sent to Alice Springs again after the walloping we gave them this year haha.

We head straight to Melbourne after Gather Round and stay for the week.

Boys got bored of Radelaide it seems 🤣
I'd be asking to spend the week in Barossa. Freo can fly the families up and make it a positive experience for everyone.

Pretty sure the players aren't keen on becoming FIFO workers in Melbourne. Player retention is hard enough as it is.

On the flip side, a sizeable contingent of our players are from Vic. Staying a few nights in Melbourne mid week / mid season would be novel for them and a good opportunity to catch up.

Disadvantages teams that have done better in the first 18 rounds, gives them a harder draw, it would be better to be in 7th by % at that point of the season than 5th or 6th

Also opens up the AFL's ability to help or screw certain teams, they'll know form teams of the comp (and the ones trending downwards) and shit can be manipulated

Don't like it at all
