Post Trade Period

B: Cowan Weitering McGovern
HB: Newman Silvagni/Haynes/Kemp Saad
C: Docherty Cripps Acres
HF: E.Hollands McKay Williams
F: Motlop Curnow Moir/Kemp
OB: TDK Walsh Cerra
IC: O.Hollands Hewett Fogarty Pick 3

Confident in most the picks. Biggest question mark is the 2nd KPD and the 3rd tall forward.

I prefer Cowan to Boyd. Boyd is a good user but doesn't accumulate enough to play that attacking role. Cowan has a more rounded skillet.

I don't rate C.Durdin but do very much rate Mots if he can get a clean run. Prefer Fog to Cots as the defensive forward.

I think we have 15 locks for the team. Weitering, Gov, Newman, Saad, Docherty, Cripps, Acres, Williams, McKay, E.Hollands, Curnow, TDK, Cerra, Walsh, Hewett.

That leaves 7 open spots though I would be surprised to see O.Hollands, Fog or Mots miss if fit.

Haynes not even depth for you? I'd imagine he wanted to be traded for senior game time or he would have stayed at the Giants.

You know we've still got a super strong list when you can make arguments for players not in consensus 22 even after trading out Kennedy and other players many had as "hopefully this year" types.

I'm on about my 4th or 5th post trade period iteration.

There's lots of options. Good players will miss out but get their turn with injuries and suspensions.

It takes a list.

My latest iterations - first game & premierships team.

So far...

Newman Haynes McGovern
Hollands Weitering Saad
Acres Cripps Docherty
Hollands Kemp Williams
Moir Curnow McKay
DeKoning Walsh Cerra
Cowan Hewett Lord Motlop
Wilson

I can see Wilson playing off half back from the start next season. Hollands could be wing. Docherty could be half back. So there are options.

Binns could be in that side at some stage.

E Hollands could be permanent onballer.

I we are going to buy into better run, better pressure, better speed. Hewett could be the next player on the outer. Bringing Lord more game time. I'm a fan of Lord. Think if we invest in him he will return a lot back to us.

Moir will play every game he is fit. Not just because he is a super talent but because we are super weak in this area. He's going to really surprise a lot of people next season. Genuine forward, not a failed midfielder.

Kemp as a third tall forward excites me. He really showed a lot last year as a key forward and he has the pace. There is a good offensive player waiting to be unlocked there.

I think it's make or break for Williams. He really needs to make it as a forward. I think he will. He may even go into the middle or play a bit as a plus 1 (high half forward) which he would be good at.

Motlop is under the pump as well. He needs to get fitter, trim down and get his game going. Feel it's make or break for him as well. We will be chasing forwards in the next trade period IMO.

Pick 3 will likely feature in that side.

I think the half forward flanks are our weak spot in this side, otherwise it's a solid side. We will need some of our young guys to stand up at half back. Docherty could go back there but Cowan, Wilson, Hollands need to be damaging. Get up around the midfield contests and make an impact. Make opposition supporters worry about their impact.

VFL so far

? Silvagni Durdin
Boyd Young Monahan
Duffy Carroll Binns
Cottrell O'Keeffe Fogarty
Fantasia Lemmy Durdin

Gut feel is we start like/similar to this next year:

B: McGovern, Weitering, Saad
HB: Newman, Haynes, O.Hollands
C: Acres, Cerra, Docherty
HF: E.Hollands, McKay, Kemp
F: Motlop, Curnow, Williams
R: TDK, Cripps, Walsh
I: Cowan, Boyd, Fogarty, SOS, Pick 3,

Would love to see our younger guys like Lord, Binns, Moir etc. get some serious game time, but I feel like we go with experience early on.

Until round 2 when "how do we fit 28 into 23" turns into "we need to drop 6 players but have nobody to replace them with"🤣

Cowan Haynes McGovern

Holland Cripps Acres
Elijah McKay Kemp
Motlop Curnow Williams

IC - Doch, Pick 3, SOS and Hewett

Very difficult

Cowan, Weitering, McGovern
Newman, Haynes, Saad
O.Hollands, Cerra, Acres
E.Hollands, Curnow, Kemp
Moir, McKay, Williams

FOLL: TDK, Cripps, Walsh

I/C - Doc, Pick 3 (Jagga/FOS/Draper/Lalor), Hewett, SOS, Lord

Depth...

DEF: Cincotta, Boyd, Wilson
FWD: Fog, Motlop, Durdin
RUCK/MID: Pittonet, Cottrell, Campo x2

All of Jagga/FOS/Draper/Lalor will be ready to go. First two have played for Richmond's VFL side at varying stages, so big strides in their development already to step up against men, and same applies for Draper smashing it in the SANFL. Lalor is built like a brick sh*thouse, and comes the most ready-made.

Moir gets the start ahead of Motlop/Durdin for me, and has the athleticism to play that small/mid-sized hybrid role. Showed enough in two games to be given first crack ahead of them already.

Motlop needs a BIG pre-season to break his way into the side. Get fit, align to professional standards or languish in the VFL and get traded/cut at the end of 2025. Durdin showed glimpses playing that roaming HFF/Wing role late in the season (especially against the Eagles), but same applies. Without Owies the spotlight is on them, no more hiding.

Cinc and FogDog the most stiff, but could easily find their way in.

Just reading the tea leaves a bit with O'Sullivan even though he wouldn't be my first choice. Would love to see the kids getting a crack at it and a few players in new roles.

Jordan Boyd - Jacob Weitering - Adam Saad
Nic Newman - Nick Haynes - Billy Wilson
Lachie Cowan - Patrick Cripps - Blake Acres
Finn O'Sullivan- Harry McKay - Lachie Fogarty
Zac Williams - Charlie Curnow - Ashton Moir
Tom DeKoning - Sam Walsh - Adam Cerra

Elijah Hollands - Sam Docherty - Mitch McGovern - Cooper Lord

O.Hollands

My bad definitely for depth.
I think he will surprise you given Haynes whilst at the Giants had to endure so many stomach staph infections so much so that he lost six kilos in one month that stuffed up his digestion and energy output... He was also over prescribed too many anti-inflammatories which gave him bleeding ulcers and worsened his situation with his digestion and output
He has now gone through the natural therapy remedies from around the world and is over these problems according to an interview he did on our Blues website we can Expect the old Nick Haynes of near all Australian Calibre
