Been in my side all pre-season. Whilst Sinclair is the more popular pick, I'm really bullish on NWM. Scoring might be a little volatile where one waxes whilst the other wanes, but I'm hoping Sinclair cops the forward tags and NWM can run free.
Already averaged high 20s seagulling, no contested possies, hard to see where the upside comes from points wise, but is a gun player.

Players like Sicily (3rd tall again), Holmes, Clark, Martin seem to have mire upside, but i could be wrong.

Should be safe again for 100+ nothing wrong with picking him, could push 110.

I’ve got NWM very close to being on par with McKercher for average. I’d rather go there and save the 70K but no doubt he has potential.

Clark is the other guy I've had all pre-season. Have looked at all of Martin, Holmes and Sicily but the extra bye is a big cloud. Reports are that Martin is pushing up but also training inside midfield. If Sicily is pure 7th defender though he'd be extremely tempting even witht the bye.

I can see a world where you start both and aim for 220 points a week combined, doesn’t matter who scores them.

I’m surprised that Clark is only in 5% of teams. Last year went only below 83 twice. Between rounds 10-22 he scored 100 plus in all games. Super consistent. Great bye. No question marks on role.

Ryan took 149 kick outs last year, Clark 49. Could easily see him getting more of that too.

Once FREO looked to speed their ball movement out of DEF .....Clark became more relevant, and Ryan less so

Clark at 24 is still on an upward curve ....and did I read, he is now one of the Club Leaders ?

Holmes for now (PS) ....can be a direct swap for Sicily if his role looks good in PS games

Currently draft has NWM and Sinclair and McKercher 😁

And only took Clark out to make room for Sinclair 🤣

I had him last year, he was great. He's a gun, definitely room for improvement too. After his breakout season, I reckon he'll get tagged more this year. He copped a hard James Jordon tag early in the season. Aside from that, can't remember if he got a heap of attention in other games. Despite the low score vs GWS late in the year, Bedford went to Serong that game, not Clark, so not sure what happened. He's a fine starting pick. Not sure why I'm avoiding him really. His price is a little awkward.

I think the reason is because they want Clark running the ball and not taking kick outs. He and Walker are their quickest defenders. Ryan will always get more kick outs.

Just reading that Sam DeKoning has been full time ruck in Cats match sims. With Conway not seen yet he has to be considered if they start that way. His first game in the ruck last year he did score 135 the same day his brother ripped him a new one.

Blics back to permanent def.

Get a look in r0 at least.

(Darcy Cameron tore him a new one in rd18 lol)

CBAs in those rounds:

Locked if he's gonna ruck. Just need a few early spike games and you can boot him for a stud.

He’d be risky even if he was the only ruck we had standing, but he can play, got really clean quick hands for a tall fella when he plays mid. I reckon the really big rucks would smile lining him up at centre bounces though, his brother certainly did (the big bully!)

Plenty of touches in those games.

Liam Duggan may be a good POD for the defence. He'll be primarily a mid this year, will rack up a fair bit of the ball and get some sweet DPP action later on.

Got himself in pretty good nick too.

Why do people post pics as though I know what SC relevant players look like IRL

😂

Anyone watch Jayden Short & Richmond closely in 2024? As a North fan I didn’t really need to watch another basket case closely every week so can’t say I have any idea why he had such a dip in scoring.

Only 1 score sub affected. Take that out & his average was still only 85 after 4 years of ~98. Not quite true premium in defence these days but value pick there. Weighing up Short v Mills

Mills country mile.

Cheaper, mid role, higher history of scoring (105+).

A combination of reasons. In a weaker team, so less options to kick to. Rioli stepped up last year (probably looking for the big move and contract). Can be a butcher at times. Maybe he just couldn't be bothered in a crap side?

I don't think anybody is expecting 98 again, but he's certainly got 90-95 in him. We're all looking for value, and with Rioli gone, we're hoping there's a few extra touches for Shorty. He's a VC, he's almost 30, he's gotta step up and help this young side. Worth a crack.

But...

If it's Short vs Mills, it's Mills by the length of the Flemington straight. Mills is simply a must-have imo

Reading the Richmond forum is interesting. Most don't want Short in the team. They probably need his experience, but maybe that happens later in the year if a kid steps up.

There's some suggestion, given RICH will be bottom in 2025 ....they'll adopt a FREO style chip chip approach in DEF to have a slow and steady exit from D50

Will benefit Short ....of course Mills is a lock, but don't discount Short

I reckon he's one of those players that the fanbase don't like, but he's one of the first names on the team sheet (eg. Treloar at Pies, Parish, etc). They need his experience. Premiership and BnF winner. He's in the leadership group. They have a young squad. With Rioli gone, they simply need him. I reckon as long as he's fit, he plays every game. But I'm not against flipping him in rd14 for a player coming off his bye.
