Sorry, I thought that was about Bailey Dale - Matt Kennedy is an interesting one. Can see him being a full time mid, some might not agree, and I guess Bevo will determine that and getting Bevo'ed can happen to the even the best Clubman at that Club, but with Treloar on injury watch, reckon Kennedy is chance to earn his stripes quickly.

The way I see it, Kennedy wouldn't have moved on unless he was offered more midtime. All accounts say that although he was frustrated by his fwd half role, he was well established and had made great connections. It seems the Dogs came to him with an offer that was too good to pass up on.

He's my F1.

I'm not sure about a mid role for Kennedy. The Dogs have one of the best midfield units in the comp with Bontempelli, Liberatore and Treloar. Ed Richards broke into that midfield group last year. They also have Sanders and Garcia running around in the VFL. I am keen to see how things look for Kennedy but I think what the Dogs can offer him is a consistent role that he didn't have at Carlton. I expect that role to be half forward though.

The general consensus on the carlton board is that Matt wanted to play more mid minutes. The club told him they saw him as a half forward with some potential midfield minutes at his exit interview. By all accounts he was otherwise happy (and was a key part of the club's culture) so for him to leave then it doesn't make sense that it would be to play the same role that he left at Carlton.

Bevo doesn't promise roles - he just promises not to play you for weeks or even a season!

I agree but you wouldn't be going to the Dogs then. You'd go to St Kilda or West Coast or maybe even try your luck with Melbourne with their current turbulence.

Of course, there's a chance that it does happen, in which case, Richards goes back to defense or Treloar goes out to the wing as a way to try to transition the midfield.

The folding stuff is quite likely the draw card.

Bulldogs: 'We'll pay you the same amount of money but you'll only have to play once a month'

Kennedy: 'DEAL!'

Yes, but don't forget, that once a month game could be in any position on the field....
Nor does it even mean it's on the field much if they figure they need him to carry Bevo's clipboard after Qtr time if more of his Footy Dept start to question his selection calls!

Have we worked out who's going to get Nic Newman's role at the Blues? FlowersByIrene
Ollie Hollands was already training in defence with what would have likely be a mixture of Newman, Saad, Hollands, Cowan and Boyd across 4 positions in our 'back 7' (i.e one would have missed out each week, potentially Boyd). With Newman out, I think all that changes is Boyd comes into the Best 22 and takes a small defender / back pocket role. So I don't think much changes structurally.

Newman played a complicated and high level role involving lock down small defence and rebound / switch from defensive 50. I suspect Boyd will take the small defender side but not necessarily the rebound / switch part of his role. Suspect Hollands might take that bump, but unlikely to be material. Suspect it will be spread out amongst the pack.

Don't anticipate Doch moving back.

Thanks for the insight.

Video backs up the post. Mills looks to be playing around the ball in all of the vision. Only need to watch the first 3 mins of the vid, has a couple of touches, mark and a tackle.

Another captain option

They have to play with double the amount of mids to do match sim, and looked like Mills wasnt the main guy in there, looked like he was playing off the defensive side of the stoppage, letting Heeney go for it rather than hunting the ball.

He might just be that balanced mid that can play defensive or offensive depending on who is in there with him.

Heeney looks like the main man in there still.
Warner wont move from what he was doing either, Mills wont be pushing him out anyway as they both do different things.
Rowbottom is the defensive mid doing jobs, etc.
There was a lot of CBAs going to guys like Gulden, Parker, McInerney, papley and Adams as that 4th/5th mid that may be mostly Mills' CBAs now.
