Tempted to just field both Travaglia and Saad El-Hawli and get another premo mid with more upside than Sinclair as the backline is just full of unknowns.
I think that Trav is a definite scorer but all the other rookie defs I'm not convinced

It will likely go like this:

D1 = Sheez or one of the saints/freo boys for the good bye (likely Sinclair/Nas)
D2 = ??
D3 = Short
D4/5 = Robo, Kiddy and/or Mills
D6 = Trav

But yes you're right, defence is full of unknowns. Hopefully there will be some clearer options pop up during the pre-season games. Also if the 3 value defs all score well OR, do we just suck it up and start them all and play 21 in that bye round?? Basically forces no picking of other underpriced premos from that bye (besides Bazlinka obviously)

You can obviously have Sheez AND a Sinc/Nas type but it's a lot of money and I definitely think Sheez is D1 this year but think he has to regress at least 4-5pts still

Possible other options:
Duggan (playing midfield it looks like)
Rivers (potential breakout in midfield)
Colby (out of defence but uncertain if he's playing mid or wing, potentially the latter by what I've read)
SDK (if playing Ruck)
Farrell (numbers improving with Houston gone?)

My second draft of the team I have thought up of with 35k let. Thoughts on my team. The forward line has not changed one bit and I thought of the lineup straight away and it is so common it annoys me. Any way reviews on my team.

I don’t like the two rookies in the backline to be honest. It will be interesting to see what the dynamic is with teams coming closer to R1.
I think 3 in the midfield is reasonable, there is most likely going to be multiple rookies getting games and scoring well.
Allen I don’t know if he lines up R1 and won’t be a large scorer as well from what his jnr days suggest.

Rozee is a great pick, I hope he stays a slight POD as he’s M2 for me at the moment.

Set and forget rucks is always a securing feeling but I believe RoMa has been playing up forward a fair bit in match sim (early days) and it scares me off a bit. We will see moving forward.

Forward line is standard and you can’t go wrong. Pretty good lineup overall :)

The rucks are very scary. Set and forget is the move but who?

All the top dogs have a few red flags. Gawn too old for that price. Where’s Marshall going to play? Can Xerri keep up the scoring if North improve and/or do they bring someone in to support him? Where is English at now with Darcy in the side?

Think I’m going one of them and TDK if he gets number 1 ruck, but who is it going to be?

Thanks.

I remember last season I started with some players like Cameron in the Ruck because of their huge opening round score. Went ok in the end because I jumped off before he had a truly horrible score, but I think it's better to not chase the scoring of OR (unless if its a very cheap mid pricer who tonned up or something like that).

Surprised no ones talking about Farrell, Evans or DBJ to fill the void/kicks ins from Houston leaving, surely a boost?
Didn't Farrell take most of them anyway?

It is quite hard to pick a team. Tempted to fade Xerri given his price and first 4/5 has Gawn, RoB, Witts, Grundy. Running Darcy/Flynn saves a lot of money to get an extra premo on the field, but lose the C opiton of Xerri and season probably finished if something goes wrong early.

A lot of the cheap guys like Short, Perryman, Mills and Cerra all have horrendous soft tissue history so hestient to load up on them.

The Bye Round structure has changed a bit from last season. 3 Byes weeks (Rds2-4), then 5 bye weeks (rds 12-16). Makes the latter set of byes a bit more smoothed out. Interesting.

Was my first look at it today - Autofilled and will try and prove it wrong. Just waiting for the Autotrade feature and the AutoCapt option - then I can really set and forget!

was basically 50/50 with Houston and a few for Burton, but Burton took them all when both were out.
Farrell definitely benefited from Burton's absence looking at their season scores. Would be a watch if Burton goes out again!

Team after a few days of chopping and changing. Pretty happy with it, probably 5-6 players that are interchangeable.

But i see value in every spot bar the rucks, JHF and maybe Sinclair.

Wish i could fit Taranto and Rozee in also but only way of doing that is to downgrade JHF or Sinclair to a rook and put Langford to the bench which is something im thinking of doing but means you miss out on a good rookie mid.

Decisions, Decisions..

Is Docherty going to be in the half back role he is used to Carlton fans? If he can get back to what he was doing pre ACL he would be a great pick. Pretty tough picking a 31yo coming off an ACL though.

Xerri is at the age where you know he will just get better as well as having the solo ruck role.
I will be keeping an eye on Darcy, he’s very underpriced considering what he has shown in recent years. I don’t have concerns he will share ruck duties with Jackson as I think they love playing him FWD.
English definitely shows value but it’s too risky with Darcy and how much of a gun he’s going to be. I believe they will share ruck duties too much and we will see inconsistency from English again.
TDK is definitely my favourite in terms of value. I’m currently running with him and Xerri in my team. We saw what he was capable with just being solo ruck and I believe that’s what Carlton want moving forward. It will be a close watch in the pre season and what their lineup looks to be round 1.

Doch is just a fantasy guru and I think his price is too cheap to ignore. Even if he’s named C it’s juicy. He loves +6 and Carlton love it in his hands.

I'd rather save $150k and go with a spring chicken in Peatling.
All players are on pre season watchlists of course.
All to be scrapped by round 0 high score Inclusions.
