2 over 900k (realistically I would love to have 3 but I don’t think it’s possible with the rest of my team structure.
3 in the 700-800k mark
1 in the 600-700k mark
Two rookies
I've got 1 extra over 900k and only 2 in the 700-800k but think I would like your version better. I'm just not sure which 3 to go.

Definitely tough. I think one will be Day/Cogs. I’m leaving room for one of them to smash out a 110 score round 0 that we will need for cash gen. Then all good to play an Ashcroft type to cover the week they’re on their bye

That's the reality, what is smashed out Opening Round by:

Kiddy Coleman (if he plays)
Ashcrofts - either
Dunkley
Zorko (?)

Holmes
Humphries (?)
Miers
B Smith (nearly anything stays)

Riley Bice (if he plays)
Gulden
Heeney
Mills
Roberts

Day
MacKenzie
Moore
Newcombe
Sicily

Anderson
Flanders
Miller
Rioli (if he plays)
Lombard (if he plays)

Caldwell
El Hawli (nearly anything stays)
Kako (if he plays)
Martin'
Merrett
Parrish
Roberts
Tsatas

Coniglio
Daniels
Green
Kelly
Leake (if he plays)
Stone (if he plays)
Whitfield

Allan
Crisp
Daicos'
DeGoey
Perryman
Quaynor

and any others that surprise us. Have I left a 'close watch' off the list?

Midfield wise how many guys above $900k are people running with, how many mid pricers and rooks?
2 over 900k
3 mid pricers 700-900k
3 rookies

That D5 spot I currently have Doc, but open to Day based on Rd 0 scores. Also open to running 4 rooks if a few play and score well Rd 0 downside of that is I'm struggling to spend the money on other lines.

Definitely on the ball with all the picks there, can’t seem to see anyone you’ve missed (potentially Hobbs if he gets a game)
I definitely agree however with picks from R3 bye I think we have to steer clear no matter what they get round 0 if we are starting with mills/kiddy/smith. I’ve said it previously and believe Holmes is set for a huge year and if kiddy doesn’t play OR I’ll most likely try and find the cash and upgrade him.
The ones I’m really focusing on are the hawks/giants players aka Sicily, cogs, green, day, Hobbs (not sure if best 22) as I can easily cover them on their bye.

Adelaide match sim notes from this morning. Thanks to Binuk & bigman

They had the starting mids and fwds in the one team and the starting defence in the opposition team.
  • Tex and Rankine dominated. Rankine roughly 60/40 mid/fwd mix. Plenty of CBAs.
  • CBA allocation in order of most to least in the probables
- Crouch main man, Peatling, Rankine, Dawson, Soligo and a little of Rachele.
  • Laird exclusively in defence no CBAs, Milera too in def with the usuals.
  • Neale-Bullen is a bloody good footballer. Immediately in our best 5-10 players. Classier then most on our list and will surprise with his impact I think.
  • Peatling looked good lock him in the mids. Fast and competitive. A few clean stoppage exits.
-Curtin and Draper starting mids for the 2nd team. Looked fine and Curtin used the ball well. Wouldn’t call either a lock for round 1 but the potential is obvious.
  • Thilthorpe is massive big year ahead for him. Should be dominant.
  • When interviewed Nicks claimed Rachele has had one of the best off/pre seasons he has seen anyone have. Big call. He looks fit and he outmarked Hinge at one point so good signs.
  • Tex was way too good for our best backline but had lots of delivery from a dominant midfield.
  • Of the 2nd team Shoenberg stood out as a mid. Good signs also from Dowling and Pedlar (sore shoulder late in the session- hopefully nothing)
  • Cumming rehabbing from his hammy doing run throughs but if he was a stallion at the horse sales you’d buy him. Looks impressive athletically and a great kick.
  • Nank looked good but will be on the edge of selection with a few new recruits and Milera back in the mix.
  • Keane looking strong and confident.
  • Apart from Cumming, Berry and Nick Murray didn’t complete the match sim. Admittedly I missed the start of the session. Looked to my eye that Muzz had a slight limp but hope it’s nothing.
-Dawson kicked a few goals- rolls Royce just cruised around

Curtin -
had a few nice moments where his smarts and clean hands showed, but was also caught flat footed a few times at stoppage including one where he just let Rankine go off to the races. Still has some work to do on his midfield craft. As a high forward however he’s already very capable even though his contested marking needs to continue improving.

Dawson - probably the most dominant player out there after Rankine. Surprisingly low CBAs but found the ball regardless and ball use was deadly. Took a ripping pack mark too where he just floated in the air. Just a very good footballer.

Soligo - if it wasn’t Dawson who was second best it was this guy. Showed that lovely blend of class and body strength and was seemingly everywhere especially early on. Timing his run beautifully after a slowish start to the summer.

Peatling - not a huge standout but he was value for touches with some seriously nice kicks - not the first time I’ve been impressed by his ball use this summer. Had one terrific moment where he burst out of the centre and laced out Dawson for a goal.

Draper - the big positive is that he was constantly getting his hands on it at stoppage. The issue is that most times he was wrapped up and unable to find a way out. Looks like a classic case of someone who just needs a bit more time and body strength to play his natural game. Given he has the frame to fill out I’m confident it’ll happen, but don’t expect it all to click just yet. He did find a nice amount of pill on the outside too though which was good to see.

I reckon from today anyone banking on Crouch not being best 22 has to change their assessment and what it means for their assessment of others. Was clear CBA staple and linking up well with our more dynamic players.

I’d have had Rankine as more mid time than the 60/40 above. Crouch Rankine was the most common duo in there (noting 1 of 2 periods didn’t actually have stoppages just set up and kicked the ball somewhere but Rankine was in those set ups and everywhere through mid ground transitions).

I’d have said Peatling probably next most, soligo, Dawson and a bit of Rachelle.

Soligo split time CBA and wing and was prolific. Not an option but more relevant in that it looks like he will split time out on a wing so part of working out the mat CBA mix. Dawson same boat today. Less time inside than out on wing but is that a role or just today I’ve no idea. It is going to be an interesting and dynamic mix.

Cumming said few more days running and back with the boys mid week next week.
