Teams 2025 Fantasy Rate My Pre-Season Team

Taranto's an interesting one. I've had him as a lock all preseason but I also have concerns about just how high he can score when his teammates won't get their hands on the ball.
Taranto was one of my first picked but I've recently removed him from my team for this reason too. If When Hopper and Prestia get injured it's just gonna be him and the kids. Tigers could have some big blow outs this year and teams might look to play tempo footy at the end of quarters or go into junk time early in the last, which will limit his ceiling.

Agree. He was one of the first picked in my Bolter squads, was keen on his price tag and I knew what he was capable of. It wouldn’t surprise me if he scores well, but I think it will be a frustrating watch seeing tigers get smashed and no one being able to get their hands on the ball.

Latest training report I read (not on BF) had Taranto spending a fair chunk of time forward. That was enough for me to dump him if they plan on getting midfield minutes into some of their kids as much as possible.

Of course it’s training so take it with a grain of salt and could be very reactive.

This is my thought process regarding him too. He's played his whole career in good/competitive sides (prior to last year) which is when he was pumping out 100+ seasons.

This year he'll be the main senior player in the Richmond mids so will be the natural target for the opposition's defensive mid (e.g. Nash or Rowbottom), so not sure he'll just be running free racking up +6s every week.

He should still go 95-100 avg. just from sheer weight of numbers but I prefer Rozee at his price point and then a couple of genuine top 8 mids (Dawson and Brayshaw) at the next price bracket up.

Why though, would any team bother to tag any RICH player this year ?

Yeah I wouldn't be worried about tagging in the slightest. I'd be more worried about teammates being able to get the ball to him.

My first real confirmed draft, a lot of tinkering was done prior to this, especially because i had way too many R3 bye players, so needed to cut down on those numbers, but liking this early structure.

DEF: I'm liking the balance of this, Dale and Short will be +6 merchants and Short should bounce back being the main man in the Tigs backline with no Rioli, gonna back Farrell as I can feel him becoming the 2025 Jordan Clark, Mills and Kiddy are the consensus picks but will move Kiddy on if he's not right to play, and D6 will be based on who gets named.

MIDS: Have three C/VC options in Bray, X and Rozee (had TT but got cold feet with the potential beltings that the Tigs may get), I did have a one rook mid structure with Peatling and Hollands at M6 and M7 but it left the defence very thin which I wasn't a fan of so decided to run with two mid rooks. Red and Callaghan have immense upside for their prices, Finn in particular, with an injury affected Cogs and Kelly he could cash in with the CBAs.

RUCS: X and TDK have been there for me since the game opened. as long as Pitto stays out of the team, DK will score well.

FWDS: Got Parker in F1 instead of JHF as I think he gets the first try of being the Warlord replacement in inside mid, next three are the popular picks, and got Maric and Hewett in their due to their friendly roles.

Praccy's, R0 and R1 will obviously change things, and I'll do what I didn't do last year and add the R0 high scorers for the safety in numbers, but happy to sit with this until the praccies

Had his equal best Fantasy year at the Tiges in 2023, still managed 95avg last year. Think the biggest risk will be some inconsistency unless Hopper and Prestia can remain fit around him! Couldn't see him being a top 18 mid though.

I'm pretty bullish on this team but it is predicated on all of the $230k rookies turning up, I'm pretty confident that most of them will.

There's a few early upgrades that are planned but also very cheap, Coleman will come in for Schoenmaker at no cost, Phillipou will come in for Garcia, again at minimal cost. Sanders might have to go when Treloar is back in but shouldn't be an expensive upgrade to a Parker or the like. Darcy is a planned upgrade to Xerri about round 6.

After those relatively cheap tweaks I'll only have to upgrade Sheldrick, Erasmus and Hewett before I can concentrate on luxury upgrades. I'd expect to have those 3 done before the mid season byes. 3 premos missing round 12 and 4 missing round 13, but with a full team I still expect to field at least 18 keepers on all of the mid season byes.

The team has been structured with a definite consideration of all the byes, might take a little hit in round 3 with three out but I think the overall score won't suffer too much.

Richards and Callaghan. Ballsy picks... I like it

There's still a lot of 'dunnos' for me. Maric and Dewar are both speculative PoD picks based on some pre-season training reports

I'm going to watch West Coast train tomorrow so will get more of an idea around their new roles hopefully. Maric as other posters have mentioned will reportedly be our distributor out of the back half, while Dewar has apparently found a home on the wing. Dewar won't have to find much of the footy to pass his BE of 31... and if he can get some 70's going then that would be even better.

Also unsure about the Peatling - Cumming duo, could be better to just pick a Lindsay or a FOS and use the extra cash to go from Peatling up to someone in the 800-900k range.

Still a very rough draft at this stage and have no doubt my final team will look nothing like this.

One thing I'm focusing on this year is rookies. It's been my achilles heel in previous years (in that I didn't pay close enough attention to generating cash off the bench). Reasonably happy with my selections there, only one I'm a bit unsure about is Ough.

It's good, really good. A few starting risks, but plenty of time to see and tweak before Rnd1

What's the plan if the $400k guys in midfield are no good round 1? And have you got cash if the 230k guys end up no good and red dots?

There's quite a few in that $400k range that I have my eye on, Maric, Knevitt, Allan, Noddy and Carroll, a case could be made for all of those depending on role and being named. If there's a couple of $300k'ers that look to be must haves then one of those could well be downgraded and a $230k'er upgraded. I'm also sure that with so many MP's at least one of them won't fire, pretty easy to flick say Archie Roberts to Kiddy and upgrade a couple of those cheapies.

Anyway, it's still early days and mainly concerned with structure which ATS is reliant on those cheap rookies putting their hands up.

Trying to get value in all positions. Those that don't are Sheez, Sinclair, Bont, Xerri and maybe JHF but should be solid picks and don't have an early bye.

Kiddy most likely not going to be right for round 1 unfortunately

Rest of the team is great. Lots of value in your midfield which could work…. I am way too scared to go with that approach and only have Doch, Oliver and Peatling with 3 premiums

Yep, if Kiddy isn't right for R1 then I'd look at going to someone like Schoenmaker that by all accounts will get a good role down back with that laser left peg (maybe some kickins) and no early byes.

News of Sinclair with an injury made me play around. Thoughts?

Left over money means I can get English if TDK is named with Pitto.
Risky having Dale D1?
_____

Edit- two alternative teams

Very similar team as mine, looks good!

I like going abit cheaper with the 2nd mid premo to Cerra and getting both Sheezel/NWM as defence looks riskier this year for cheaper options.
Can also downgrade Sheezel if need be if i need to go TDK up.

Very similar, have played around with a team like this. SDK very close watch - if he plays that ruck role that’s way too juicy to skip. We get a free look round 0 which is great.

Cerra is in and out of my squad, I’ll have to watch PS. Dawson been in my side for a while now and think he has potential to get back to his 110 average. Also a soft run to start

Yeah id love go Dawson but i think i only want 1 of the big premo mids so i can sure up defence as i think Dale/Farrell are a little risky and upside might not be enough.

If i knew Dawson had the high CBA's id prob choose him over Brayshaw.
