Position 2025 Fantasy Rookies

So Dylan Alexander on his youtube segment of the top 10 best rookies prospects for Fantasy scoring ......has Xavier Lindsay as his #1 prospect ...apparently is designated for the HB role vacated by Rivers (insert McKercher 2023 role)

#2 was Travaglia ....again, slated for a HB role at the SAINTS
Fair few demons posters on SC board seem to think that’s where Windsor is currently training too. I’d assume he’s slightly ahead of Lindsay. Or they possibly alternate between HBF and wing.

Juicy HB role there now that Bonner is gone. Happy days.

Feel that this year that there’ll be plenty of rookie options for a change in each line - at least it feels that way early

The suggestion with Windsor is he may go a bit thru the midfield ....or spend another year on the WING

Windsor has been training pretty exclusively with the backs in full-ground training drills. Along with McVee, he provides the line-breaking dash that was sorely missed from the backline last season.

Harry Sharp has been training on the wing and should take the one opposite Langdon.

I think Lindsay will very quickly be in the starting 22 and rotate through half-back/wing.

So Rivers to be a full time mid this year?

Comments from a track watcher who's only missed one training session:

Rivers: looks great. Training with the mids and doing all the sessions. He's really powerful through his legs. There's no reason not to hope he picks up through the midfield and just adds to what he showed last year.

Windsor: Has moved to the backline and is an absolute standout for me this preseason to date. If Judd (McVee) is a roller then Duke is a Lambo - so fast and with the skills to go with it. It's quite exciting to think what he could do this year coming.

Daicos, Green, Rozee, Petracca, Oliver, Day, Peatling, Cumming, Windsor, huge rookie crop...

Day i think you don't start considering the bye and there's the same upside from others without the bye.

Windsor at 600k needs to hit atleast 85 you'd say to match Cumming or Peatling.

That’s the way it’s looked to me. I’m expecting Smillie to deliver as well but unfortunately none of these guys are cheap.

Basement priced guys are looking hard to find.

I'm not advocating for Windsor (or Rivers), just trying to share some potential positional changes.

Outside of those that haven't debuted, ie Langfor or Lindsay, the only fantasy relevant players I think Melbourne have for 2025 are Oliver and Petracca.

And then there is Dan Curtin. The Crows were very calculated and measured as to how they used Curtin in his first season at AFL level. Some of this annoyed fans, but there is a desire to not throw him in at the deep end. But given his size, versatility and ability to move around the ground the West Australian is a fascinating prospect. Another one to watch out for looks to be young defender Oscar Ryan. While he didn’t play a game in his first year at West Lakes, coaches are a fan of him and he has further impressed with the condition he has turned up to pre-season in.

Adelaide selected Ryan with Pick No.27 at the 2023 AFL National Draft. A highly-skilled rebound defender with good speed, Ryan is renowned for his toughness and attack on the footy. He forced his way into the Vic Country team and played every game of the 2023 Under-18 National Championships after impressing with the Murray Bushrangers in the Coates Talent League. Ryan averaged 22 disposals, five marks and four tackles per game to finish runner-up in the Bushrangers’ 2023 best-and-fairest.

Essendon track watch: Elijah Tsatas dominates match sim to kick off new year

A fringe Essendon midfielder has torn match play to shreds during a Saturday morning session where several of Brad Scott’s tweaks for 2025 were revealed.

Young onballer Elijah Tsatas laid down a marker in his push to break into Essendon’s midfield by dominating match simulation to start the new year.
They were missing Parish and Caldwell weren’t they? I wouldn’t be going near this bloke. Can’t hit the side of a barn and it’s garbage that he’s magically fixed his kicking

Very much like Taranto with his kicking …. to Tsitus credit , he’s worked very hard on his kicking

Very much a look and see

Even if that is the case could still be Essendons second best midfielder. Not like Parish, Caldwell or Durham are any good with ball.

Tsatas one of the big improvers on their list I'm hearing - even before that Sat morn match sim, so yeah, is a watch for proof!

I get what you’re saying but those 3 are just generally average kicks not completely shithouse kicks. Tsatas can’t even hit blokes wide open with no pressure on him. He’s a rung below. Caldwell and Durham have some serious weapons that I think Tsatas is yet to show so I can’t see how he magically slots into their midfield. People are also talking about Hobbs having lit up in their intra. There’s another high draft pick midfield they need to fit in. Too many same same types for the one or two holes I think

We've probably all seen what you've seen with some ordinary kicks at times, very ordinary for a Pick 6 in his draft. His stats though indicate his best is not any less than a Wardlaw (pick4) or Clarke (Pick8). All have an ED of about 66%. Ashcroft is about 72% on much higher numbers. Clarke's numbers are about double. Bailey Humphries also has had some shocking kicks in his 40 game career - 67% ED.

Parish goes at a career avg of 68%, Caldwell is at 73% ED.

I don't have him, but he is on a watch list, purely because he can rack it up should he ever find his feet! ;) .

As an aside, Bonner has popped up on the Casey Demons VFL list
