Mostly the reports of Marshall training fwd.Why are people so convinced Boyd will play
Yes he’s mature age but he went undrafted and been given a lifeline
Marshall had Campbell before and stressed everyone out and he’s played every week averaging 115-117 back to back years. He’s a premier rick of the comp (for real and fantasy)
Is it really that likely Boyd is anything more than depth?
Yep, Marshall has spent extra time FWD - but he did last season too. I'm guessing that Forward work is a better alternative training wise when the ruck work needs variety or alternatives.Mostly the reports of Marshall training fwd.
Maybe the saints are going to try something different this year.
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised to see him lineup during the season. They’ve lost Membrey who straightens them up in attack. They don’t really have anyone to come in and they have widely known scoring issues. Sharman and King seem to be their talls. Marshall is actually a decent forward. Why are people so convinced Boyd will play

Sums up my dilemma as well. I'm sticking with Roma simply because his draw is just so spanking good, and while they might add the new lad from SANFL, don't think it will happen before he has a good batch of games at Sandy, unless, they slate Roma for more forward time - and even then he scores well. There is no-one we need to see in this role in Opening Round, so it can wait.So far I've run with set and forget, Marshall & mid pricer, Xerri & mid pricer & 2 mid pricers.
Think I'm leaning 2 x mid pricers for easy draw but I do like the idea of Marshall but people still seem scared of his role changing when it never does lol.
If not for that early draw I'd start Xerri but finding it hard to justify when he has Gawn, ROB, Grundy, Witts in rounds 2-5.
I just can't see myself going 2 mid pricers, if they somehow both fail you're in a world of hurt and no where to go with trades. So far I've run with set and forget, Marshall & mid pricer, Xerri & mid pricer & 2 mid pricers.

Totally agree if when X starts well it will be a nightmare trying to get him in if you have spent the money else were . I hope people just go set and forget like me as i want everyone doing well. Good luck everyone.I just can't see myself going 2 mid pricers, if they somehow both fail you're in a world of hurt and no where to go with trades.
I can see the reason going one though.
Pros for MarshallI think you'd pick Xerri over Marshall.
But the new guy coming into the Saints has me worried about Marshall. Either way I'm not sure Marshall has any upside at his price, it would be more about securing the best and not having to worry about a trade later on.
Of the mid price options, the only ones that interest me are TDK and Sweet. Or one of the Freo guys if the other goes down.
I’ve got Xerri but only because Boyd to me is a very very slight worry. Don’t have any worries with Xerri and definitely don’t think it’s viable going both. Absolutely ****s the rest of the team if you doPros for Marshall
- proven at the average doing it 2 yrs in a row
- great opening fixture
- scored well to end last year despite a tough fixture
- best bye
Compared to Xerri
- I feel like he is going to maintain ir even improve (why he’s so popular) but he’s done it once
- tough opening fixture
- huge end to year on back of a very easy fixture
- tough bye (although I’m not sure this matters, would be a bigger point if one of the alternatives had later bye and could trade into him off his bye but that doesn’t seem to be a play and you’d probably aim to get him before then or just be a sideways of same bye situation at whatever stage, neutralizing this point)
I think they’ll both be players we want.
I’ve gut marshall at moment based on those reasons but absolutely can see why people think Xerri continues his rise or are worried about Boyd playing
Ideal is probably Boyd named rd 1. Makes the decision for us plus gives us a cash cow R3I’ve got Xerri but only because Boyd to me is a very very slight worry. Don’t have any worries with Xerri and definitely don’t think it’s viable going both. Absolutely ****s the rest of the team if you do
Sounds like Boyd has done a pec at training todayIdeal is probably Boyd named rd 1. Makes the decision for us plus gives us a cash cow R3
I just dont think he will though
Oh really. Poor bloke (but at the same time lucky he just signed). Would make marshall a sure thing for me thoughSounds like Boyd has done a pec at training today
Marshall’s run to start the season is genuinely insaneOh really. Poor bloke (but at the same time lucky he just signed). Would make marshall a sure thing for me though
Yeah heaps different to last year where we had 3 proven scorers well underpriced.I just can't see myself going 2 mid pricers, if they somehow both fail you're in a world of hurt and no where to go with trades.

My plan too. If Pittonet is anywhere near the Carlton matchday setup I'm tempted to go English, but that's only if Treloar is set to miss a chunk at the start of the season. Treloar being fit for the whole year last year was the reason why English fell off imo. Treloar's get ball, kick not conducive to the rests of the mids fannying around with it like they previously were known to.Yeah heaps different to last year where we had 3 proven scorers well underpriced.
This year the ruck mid pricers are back to those sorts of middling players like Darcy and Meek who “could” take the next step but most likely won’t and then you’re cooked as Xerri and Marshall put 30-50 points on you, each, per week.
Fwiw I’m hedging my bets and going one of the big dogs and probably TDK (caveat of no Pittonet). Has shown he’s up to it and should have natural progression with age.
