Sweet really doesn’t interest me. If I took him it’d be out of no alternatives and being ok with just picking a player at the right price to fit the rest of my structure that is safe enough to justify their price.

If TDK isn’t solo I’d be most tempted by English if I could find the cash (assuming his abdominal issue doesn’t impact his preseason games which I don’t think will end up being a big deal).

Or going right down to Boyd if there’s bad news on RoMa.

No love for Darcy if he’s good for R1?

R2 options appear to be getting slimmer by the day

Marshall gone.
Gawn big question marks on age and value.
English interrupted pre season.
TDK question marks on sole ruck.
Darcy fitness queries and Jackson impact on scoring.

Jordon Sweet looking more and more likely by the day.
I don’t think Jackson will impact Darcy’s scoring, if he’s fit for R1 and SDK is named with Pitonett I think I’ll be taking the risk with Darcy.
First 5 matches:
Geelong 🤤
Swans
Eagles
Dogs
Richmond

Same, he's my R2 at this stage, but with TDK as R1 for now. Still need so much information to be really set or definitive.

Yeah some but the post I quoted was on basis of doubt over Darcy for rd 1

If he played pre season and TDK was named with pittonet he’d likely be the option I went to, especially if Boyd was a playing option on the bench

As noted above he has a juicy draw but I am a bit worried by his lack of / interrupted preseason (despite looking fit it’s not the same)

What if we got Boyd and that fat merv Hughes campaigner as 230k options Round 1? Just go both? Lol
Who is the fat Merv Hughes campaigner?

The FatController was struggling the first half. Kicks missing targets by heaps. Half way into the 3rd, a miss kick falls short for him to chest mark just inside 50. Alone, he plays on and nails it into the breeze. Everyone was stunned for a second or two, then his green teammates came from everywhere, probably shocked, and got around him. Went alright after that - mad if they list him though. It's bevo!

Really want to start Gawn and Xerri as set n forget rucks, but just having a look at the scale of hardness has me thinking that Darcy instead of Xerri could be a viable alternative up to rounds 5 or 6. The cash released is a huge benefit to the rest of the team.

Xerri, apart from round 1 where he has scored well against English, has 5 tough matchups in the proceeding rounds where his output and hence price could drop quite a bit. Darcy, on the other hand, has 4-5 very easy matchups which could see his output and price rise quite a bit. I was looking at TDK because his matchups are juicy too but there's a bit of doubt about Pittonet so I can't go there unless it's a 'known known' that TDK is a sole ruck.

I know it's difficult to have a planned upgrade so early on and probably a luxury upgrade at that, having the funds available might be an issue too. I do think there's a bit of merit in the move.

Know he has the bye, but any love for Briggs?

Started last year injury interrupted if i remember correctly. Averaged 79 first 10 games, 101 after that

Priced at 91. Rd 2 bye sucks but Green is the only other player I'm considering on that bye so is very manageable.

If he goes a 110 Rd0 you could entertain it. And if Romar misses Rd1 and you have Boyd at R3.

I really don't see the appeal of him. Question marks over his fitness, body is made of glass and can't stay on the park, sharing ruck duties with Jackson...

Looking at his opening 4 games, I can see why people would consider him for a cheaper R2 and back him in to outperform his BE, but can he stay on the park long enough to do it?

I know he went to Qatar and has improved his conditioning, but there's still a lot of what if's involved.

It's the ruck position case of the mystery box or pay up!

Jackson won’t share ruck duties. They have made it pretty clear throughout the end of the season they want Jackson as a forward as much as they can. He will obviously play ruck when Darcy rests but that’s normal (like TT at the crows when O’Brien rests)

I think the biggest advantage is the fact we have best 18 to hide behind. His first round where we have all 22 is against Geelong which may even be SDK. I believe Geelong will probably win that so there isn’t a risk Darcy gets subbed early…unless obviously injured.

With Pitto coming out saying he’s going to share ruck duties, I’ve definitely become more keen on Darcy. These risks can win you top 100 spots. I am not looking to keep Darcy for the rest of the year, ideally to his bye would be incredible! But like I said, the advantage of best 18 means you can always hide behind that

Fair points, maybe you’ve convinced me

If there's a viable r3 who is likely to get games for a few rounds then I'm interested.
Marshall supposedly being likely for r1 makes Briggs less likely, as no Boyd

Not completely sold on him yet and in all honesty, it comes down to how he looks Rd 0 (like alot of players)

But its best 18 in the bye rounds though right?

I'm not all that fussed about only 3 scores dropping instead of 4 tbh
