No guarentee. Saints are offering huge money and we have to match if we want to sign him since hes RFA.
I’d say Andy is looking to leverage as much money as he can out of freo. This is a high stakes poker game between the two parties.

On the freo side, they want to sign Andy for as long as possible (probably 6 years) for as low $$ as possible.
Andy will use the market to determine his true value (which could be around $1.5m if reports are to be believed about this St Kilda war chest of cash).
I don’t doubt Andy wants to stay at freo but he’s not a charity either. He will rightly want to be Paid what he’s worth or close to it.
Serong is likely to become of the AFLs highest paid players in 2 years time when he comes out of contract next. That’s another factor both parties will have their eye on. At least Young is off the table on a long term deal, would be interesting to know what his salary is. I suspect it’s slightly less than what both Andy and Caleb would be worth.

There’s no question the saints are going to force us to pay more to keep Andy ultimately. Thats exactly how the AFL system is meant to work by the way. We shouldn’t complain about it.

It's also possible that the parties are just ironing out the final details like bonus payments for AA, bnf etc. There seems to be a general consensus in the industry that he's signing, it's only Freo fans with PTSD that have any concern

Also does anyone find it strange that the AFL keep putting out puff articles for Kozzie Pickett, using quotes from the same interview he gave back in October? This is like 4 articles now all saying the exact same things. Are they just ads for the indigenous all stars game?

Other thing I’ve found strange is people stating they’re getting worried now. There’s barely any difference between Christmas and now in real terms - as in if David Walls has talked to a single list manager since Christmas he’s probably done it within the last 7-8 days.

I haven’t seen many, if any, players competition wide re-sign in the last few weeks.

Still get the vibe from most media articles that the general belief is that Brayshaw will be signed by round one.

Probably not going to be able to land Jesus, but the rest of them phwoar!

Which is fair enough. Will get a get a higher value.
What’s fair for him? Minimum is 800k I believe, he deserves 900k. Players like Logue getting 700k will only push Brayshaw’s belief of his own value up.

For Peel reserves, yes. Henry is a dead set spud.
I don't think he's a spud but he isn't all that either. He's done some decent things at the Saints, and done some squibbish things as well. Overall we have a net positive with bringing in sharp.

Some say Saints could offer up to $1.5mil. Wouldn't be each year, but around $1.1mil as a rough average would be believable

Clubs like Saints, North etc would happily pay 300k to 400k overs to get a free agent the quality of Brayshaw.

Perryman got 900k at Collingwood, when he is worth at most 500 to 600k. St Kilda and others are more desperate.

Andrew Brayshaw has played 146 games out of roughly 153 possible games, half of which were missed with that broken jaw season one.

He is 25 and a supreme professional. Sign him for 8 years until 2033.

The length of that deal should scare off anyone else and allow the club to spread his salary out in a comfortable fashion.

Andy & other top end players would be aware that the more money they take the less there will be to attract & retain good players. I think Andy is driven by team success and potentially captaincy he would be balancing getting a good deal with overall big picture of winning a premiership.

Fremantle have already attained the players. Young, Darcy, Serong staying as Victorians is driven enough for him to stay

Oh I agree I think he’ll sign too. But why wouldn’t he get something close to what he’s worth? I don’t see guys like Bolton, Jackson, Darcy, Fyfe up to last year, leaving big $$ on the table. Why should someone like Andy carry the can for them all?

I'd be staggered if Andy doesn't leave 2.5m on the table to stay here.
Thats ludicrous. Even over 6 years, that’s still over $400k per annum.
Also if he was going to do that (which he’s not) he would have extended 12 months ago. He’s hardly dragging it out till the last year of his contract only to accept massive unders in any case.

Mitch Cleary was taking about this on his podcast one day last year. Someone called in with a question about players taking massive unders for team success. He basically said it’s hugely overstated and cited Geelong as an example, reckoned a few guys may have given up $50 or 70k per annum at times maybe.

All these lads have professional agents representing them and they aren’t foolish enough to do a Scottie Pippen nowadays.

Completely agree. Looking at the long term deals we've struck, they're playing for WA royalty status. They know a premiership, if not a potential dynasty, is on the cards, but only if they keep the insane level of talent together. If that happens they're set for life. It's a gamble, but as the face of this team, Brayshaw (and Serong tbh) is likely to leave more on the table than people think.

There's clearly a structure in place (Bolton was smoothed to get in line with the other top earners), that the club can't risk breaking. Players and agents are switched on enough to get the most from any scheme, whilst maintaining their ability to win/be happy.
