Not a fan of co-captains. Just give it to Serong. He’s got a lot of support with that group. I truly hope he gets the nod this year.
I totally get you wouldn’t trade a player like Brayshaw out if he wanted to stay. But if he was keen to get back to Vic I reckon Warner is a better player. Players who impact the scoreboard like him from the midfield and invaluable. Kicked 35 goals this year. He’d give your midfield a different look.
Would be a lot better off paying Brayshaw and going harder for Pickett though

One could just as easily argue that paying Brayshaw overs (ie matching his best FA offers) while the rest of the team are taking significant unders would be the culture killer?
FWIW I’m pretty sure he’s staying, just player agents and list managers doing their jobs at this point

A couple of naive things there.
Kicking goals on the scg from midfield is a little easier than any other ground.
Brayshaw is very unlikely to want out given the way he has portrayed himself throughout his career. More likely the club is looking at how it may fit both Brayshaw and Kickett/Warner/both into the cap. Until those things have worked through, no signature.
Now of course if he's not being treated well then he may want out. Hence my comment Brayshaw over Warner.
He's captain material, and I think we have enough goal scorers.

Warner will be fantastic for us in a different way. Imagine him bursting from a clearance, seeing Treacy or amiss there and delivering the ball lace out.

As a Melbourne supporter who watches Kozzie every week, Warner is far more consistent and would be a better pick up IMO. I would trade Warner in for Kozzie.
As much as I love Kozzie, the gap between his best and worst is stark. For example, in our close loss to Port late in the year he had a BOG with 4 goals and 21 touches. Then the following week against the Suns you had to file a missing persons report as he didn’t touch the ball for 2 quarters and ended up with just 4 touches, 0 marks and 0 goals. Plus he’s untrustworthy to play a full season due to his MRO issues and inability to learn from his transgressions.
Warner, you know what you’ll get from week to week and can play the role of match winner, with their win over the Dogs at Marvel last year a good example.
With respect to trade, the Dees could also ask for Sean Darcy if they want a player replacement rather than trade capital. (I would personally ask for Treacy but that ain’t happening)
You’d imagine the Dees will be unreasonable in their asking price due to Kozzie being contracted and the value he provides to the MFC.
