Going to be interesting for WestCoast this year.

Warner possible right when Rodriguez and Dyson are looking tasty.
3 and 14 currently plus 2026 and 2027…

I still think we have a shot at Warner unless they give 3 and 2026 first and Warner picks them
Surely after Kelly they realise that topping up is the key to success. Don't waste time drafting young guys. Sell the farm!

WCE can offer a better trade and more $$$$.

All the signs point to Warner going to WC.

I feel bringing in Warner turns the Eagles into the next version of Essendon, a club that spends 5+ years finishing 7th to 12th. There's still a lot of holes on their list, their rebuild is just starting.

Unbelievable that they've been bottom 3 for 3 consecutive years and have 1 x top 10 picks as a result.

Missed the finals for 4 seasons now but they actually have 2 x top 10 picks on their list, till Harley leaves.

Indeed, the Richmond v WC rebuilds are going to be a really interesting case study.
Purely from a supporters POV, I I think I’d rather be watching the team fully stocked with young emerging talent each week vs the team with a couple of A listers and not much underneath..
I think successful clubs get away with rebuilds a lot easier.

They have ex players coming through setting the standards, supporters will live off the previous premierships for years.

There is also little pressure when it comes to cash, as they have large membership bases and cash reserves.

I think Richmond will do well, but not sure St Kilda could pull it off.

Even Essendon would struggle due to there poor run.

Will be interesting too what eagles do with their captain. Surely a top 5 pick is too much to pass up

No way we're getting Chad for less than Kozzie despite Kozzie being contracted.

Depending on where our picks fall and I'm hoping late our first and future first will get Pickett along with around 700k p/a and probably a pick coming back.

Two picks between 15-20 won't be enough for Chad and I think the most the club can afford is around a million where as the Eagles only have about 7 good players and 3 of them are in their 30's so they can offer $1.6-$1.8m front ended.

Chad won't be in purple IMO, half a million + per season differential between offers on a long term deal is big dollars. The Eagles may even offer the captaincy.
TBH given the current contract I’d be hoping the Dees wouldn’t accept 2 picks around 15-20.

I'd definitely take either of Warner or Pickett. Either would be a great addition.

But in my dream world I hope someone replicates, or indicates the ability, to step up like Treacy did last year. We went from serious interest in MacDonald to walking away. Love it.

Bolton will directly improve our forward line but I think indirectly he can help bring improvement to Sturt and Frederick.

I am also optimistic Simpson rises and that Murphy could debut in a forward half role.

Reckon you should ask Adelaide supporters their view. Biggest club in SA similar supporter set to Eagles, have been lost in the wilderness for a decade.

Eagles supporters and most people just assume eagles will be back up and contending in a couple of years. If they go 6 years without finals, supporters and media’s patience will be tested.

I reckon if Chad isn't in Purple next year, he won't be in blue and gold either.

I'd be more convinced he ends up wearing something like black and white.

Yeah I remember reading in "Purple Heart" that he'd requested a trade to (I think it was ) Port before 2006.

Stayed for the money here I think, or Port weren't going to pay as much or something like that.

I could be way off in my recollection here, been a few years since I read it, I just remember it breaking my heart when I read it.

As much as I will always love the great man, that's what's gunna separate him from Caleb and (hopefully!) AB, they were willing to stay the course and stick with the club through thick and thin for the ultimate success.

Of course, this is how I'm seeing it now, 20 years time I could be reading Andy or Caleb's autobiographies and find out one of them requested a trade to the Bulldogs or St Kilda or the Bombers.

Hope not.
the Threepeat will wash away all sins!

So elite players should play for less than their true worth while everyone else is paid their full value and some even more?
Doesn’t work like that I’m afraid.

Pav was worth every cent he was paid. If anything he should have been paid a lot more.

I come from Adelaide, and know lots of crows supporters. Adelaide's recruitment has been shocking, it is only because they traded in Dawson, Rankine, and co they are half decent. (That is their issue)

I would take 6 years out of the finals, if you have a young and promising list (especially after a flag) with the knowledge your next final appearance is not too far way. You just need to make sure you nail your picks, and if possible, get extra picks.

I think it is worst to be stuck in the middle. Not getting top 3 picks, not finishing top 4.

Yeah Crows supporters are well and truly over it, but they also did not try to trade out players to get more draft picks, and then to make it worse, they have missed so many top 10 picks.

Between Lever and Thilthorpe, they have 4 bad picks and 1 pass in Fogarty who is a late developer. This is their issue.

Their picks are Thilthorpe look a bit better, but they don't have a genuine A Grade from the draft.

National Draft pick 17Max Michalanney

National Draft pick 6Josh Rachele
National Draft pick 2Riley Thilthorpe
National Draft pick 11Luke Pedlar
National Draft pick 6Fischer McAsey
National Draft pick 9Chayce Jones
National Draft pick 12Darcy Fogarty
National Draft pick 15Jordan Gallucci
National Draft pick 11Wayne Milera
National Draft pick 14Jake Lever

Which club Chad chooses really comes down to what he wants.

Big fat pay - West Coast.

Primed list ready for a crack at a maiden premiership - Us

He wont get chump change if he comes to Freo, he just won't get a godfather offer.

I can’t see us getting Pickett and Warner. Salary cap and trade pieces - unless we trade out a big name.

From what I understand (and have heard) WC are very much the front runner for his services next year.

This time last year we wouldn't have had room or trade ability to get Shai Bolton either. A motivated player is very powerful.

Are you high? We had just traded out Lachie Schultz and Liam Henry and had 3 first round picks. I'm not sure we could have had a better hand to chase Shai.

We had our first, the first of the premiership side and the first of Port who were expected to finish well.

A handful of picks in the teens don't beat a too three pick

My point was we had the space after trading out Liam and Lachie, and we had some currency with 3 firsts (even if they are late), it was more than any club could reasonably be expected to have unless they are having a fire sale like the Tiges, or a shiny new expansion team.

Fair enough. Curious how being able to trade 3x firsts for all teams impacts free agency matching now.
