Back by popular demand. However...

There has been some aggro from publishers of articles in recent months about sites that copypasta their content onto other sites, particularly the paywalled ones, which could lead to fines and whanot for those that do it. Apparently there are copywrite laws for these things. As a result we can no longer have full articles reposted here, so if you come across something then please refrain from nabbing the whole thing and just post the link. Quoting a paragraph or two and linking the source is fine however, just don't get greedy.

Here's the updated site-wide rule: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/please-read-re-copyright-posting-newspaper-articles.1389553/

Here's an example of what you can do:

"If West Coast was the gold standard for how to operate, then Fremantle's arrival into the AFL in 1995 could be viewed as a series of cautionary tales.

Despite eight wins in that debut season, a series of poor recruiting choices meant they didn't play their first final until 2003."

If they believe that us not making finals until 2003 was solely due to "a series of poor recruiting choices" then I have a bridge to sell them.

Thanks for your understanding.

Had anyone hear about this before? Pearce talking about training by himself after the second break last year:

“During that period as well, I remember going out and training by myself.

“I still wasn’t allowed to sweat at the time. Sweat can get into the wound and cause infection, so it was getting quite cold at that stage of the year. But we had a big fan out there, ice buckets and I was out there training.

“I’d train for five minutes and then I’d come and stand in the fan and get the ice buckets over me.

“I was down pretty much to my shorts, no top on – it’s about 10 degrees, so I wouldn’t sweat."

Forget doing sprints in 40 degree heat... that is hardcore!

The man lived on bone broth during Covid while we were all "Menulogging" HJs.

Don't think there was ever any disputing his commitment.

Commitment? Maybe not (maybe), but there were a hell a lot of people questioning pretty much everything else about him during the 2023 season, most especially his captaincy credentials.

So in retrospect we've all been living the dream the past 30 years. Let the good times roll!
Bakes needs to go to the WC board and realise the rebuild is basically done, he's done the same thing again and joined the next dynasty.

Internally, nobody was questioning him because they all knew that he played almost the entire season of 2023 with turf toe. They also know he is by far the best leader at the club.

Some will say it's praise, others will say it's ammunition for if our season doesn't pan out as hoped

I think these are the top 9, but I am not sure about the order. (I would swap Collingwood and Western Bulldogs if it was me)

Sydney should be a lot higher. Hawks should be a lot higher as well.

GWS could easily drop down a bit, after losing 2 or 3 players.

I trust Squiggle a lot more than David King, and it shows how important a win vs any of the teams around us are.

Did he replace anyone in the group, or just an addition?

An addition.

Treacy’s addition is the only change to the Club’s leadership group since Pearce was first named captain in 2023.

The remainder of the leadership group is unchanged with Pearce, Brayshaw and Serong joined by Jaeger O’Meara, Sam Switkowski and Hayden Young.

Pearce’s reappointment as captain reflects the Club's confidence in his ability to guide the team on and off field.

Really should be removing someone if we’re adding someone IMO.

And btw I think Treacy always looked like an addition to the leadership group for this season. It seems no one ever loses their spot in our leadership group unless they voluntarily surrender it. I’m a bit more optimistic on JOM than others in terms of how many games I think he’ll play for us this year but he shouldn’t still be in our leadership group.

Interesting your comments on JOM, I have certainly noticed JOM in a few scratchies get a lot of the ball, good skills and to my amazement selling a lot of candy. We forget the player he was, perhaps his body lets him down as the season progresses?

I wish Fremantle had the Eagles media team, and lawyers. Great spin.

Absolute disgrace of a human being that plays for a footy club with too much control over the WA media in a league with too much control over the National Media.

If he played for us he'd be sacked years ago and in and out of the courts every other week.
