So I love seeing these things - so starved of AFL and Cats content!

Biggest impact on me was seeing Mullin get the ball out of backline and run. I can see him going to next level and “do a Holmes” in terms of breaking the lines with speed out of half back.

Yeah Chawkts, that's what was really noticeable to me where you see Oisin Mullin mark the ball and accelerate to go for a run and 'take a bounce' (FROM 1:51 in below video) and he was the only player to do that in the entire video footage which got me thinking that the coaches are eager and have instructed him to take the game-on more. I sure hope so, coz I think he could be quite electric by using his blistering pace and breaking the lines as you quite rightly and 'excitedly' pointed out.

Questioning a players commitment off social media posts now, wow that’s a new low.

On Clark, in two years (at the end of his fourth year), if his career mirrors Bruhn’s right now (after four years), do we consider that a success? Seems players are held to different standards depending on who we like on this board.

Looking at that videos Knevitt as indeed put on a bit of size which is nice to see

Knevitt looks like he's put on a lot of size in the gym which is good because I think that was holding him back from a midfield role. Be interesting to see how he goes in the PS games.

I was trying to figure that out too, my rough guess is Mannagh, but I have no idea.

I think it's mannagh although ivisic is the same height and similar looking so I wasn't sure.

So preseason hype scoreboard:

Shannon neale: 3 city blocks and a regional farmhouse
Mitch Knevitt: one house down potentially
....
Everyone else: Whitegoods shorted out and smoked up but isolated and fire risk contained

Still very young and missed a lot in y1.

Probably depends on ones POV . If one is a peg in the ground type and focused on the other players we may have picked at P8 … then it will be hard to rectify that opinion. It doesn't look like super draft at this stage but Phillipou and Gibney have looked pretty handy and Tsatas as been a bit disappointing so only time will tell.

What is the average games played for a top10 pick 50 to 100 games?

We probably will not know for some time if the word success is apt …but Id agree if he could do what Bruhn did in y3 and y4 and become a regular selection he would be on the path. JC might have a very successful career just doing what Atkins has achieved and he did not play afl till 24. 100 games like his id be happy to say its a tick

Being linked to a backline move is something that has me a little concerned. Bruhn was sort of played Out of position at the Giants and in his correct role with us. Can Clark find a home in the backline? Has he played the role well in his junior years? Maybe its a brilliant creative choice. Maybe its just a way to get him into the best 23 on a regular basis and then from there he will shows all his best attributes.

Was that Mitch Edwards leading his running group at around the 1:25 mark? (and big Joe Pike really battling)
Pretty sure that's Edwards leading...But...the group he leads looks to me like those who are not ready for full on rigours of pre season as yet.

Other 2 groups shown earlier look more like the core 30 players at this stage.

Is Clark manages only 11 disposal in a prelim in his fourth year playing entirely midfield in a close loss. Knives would be out and people would be melting on this board.

Clark is a much much better forward the Bruhn. He is very strong overhead and was effective forward as a junior. Problem is we are stacked in the forwardline.

I would play Clark and Knevitt full time mids in the VFL and am not a fan of playing them in the backline

Clark in the backline should not happen ever imo. He'll be a decent midfielder either in seniors or vfl but put him in the backline and I think you'll get Tom Ruggles.

I'd say it's more concern than anything overly negative, with a big year coming up for him and a couple others.

Particularly with injury, it's fair to give him a mulligan for his first two years IMO, and some of the over the top negativity in that period has been unfair.

Like most players though, particularly high draft picks, you'd want to be seeing tangible improvement in year 3 and onwards.

Barring injury, cementing himself in the best 23 at some point in 2025 would be a pass mark for mine.

For mine , its yet to be determined if he can play a non mid role but I doubt he played much other than a mid as a junior. I see him potentially as a much better player than Ruggles but i get your point. I think Ruggles struggled with the speed of decision making required at the higher level.

I doubt we drafted JC to play as a small backman but if the club see that a number of games will round him out like with Atkins then I guess we will see how versatile he is. I feel his disposal will be pressured in the backline unlike it is when playing as an inside mid. One poor pass can really blow up in your face

Edwards (or whoever) seems to be a a good amount ahead of the others and then there is the last tired ..probably Pike. I doubt we will see the best of the big young man in these type of tests
