Still, we're grown men and women, so gushing over "here's what I heard at a wedding" is a serious devolution of discussion.Unless you are within the club's inner sanctum, you are completely guessing/hoping.
I'm looking forward to seeing him play.
I also won't comment on personalities, I don't know them. Egos take time to sort themselves out, hopefully.
But I think, and hope, there shouldn't be much on field problems because at the moment, Bailey's online business model is not dependent on personal footy stats. His popularity might have started as a footy star, but it is sustained now as much by his looks and abs as it is his onfield performances. If his SM profile had "Champion Goal Kicker...", then I would be more concerned. But I think he'll settle in after some rustiness and new team cohesion issues wear away after season has started. TBH, due to my own biases and older generational taste, my fear is that he, or any Cat, started doing choreographed(branded) celebrations after each tackle, take away or goal, like they do in the NFL. That would suck.
Be it puff pieces in the media, or gossipy whispers, I never take most preseason news seriously. Injury and police reports, yes, but not that crap. Let's see him in action with the rest of them on the field before judgement.

I'd rather go off what I see and if there's nothing there to see, why bother guessing.
That's not very bigfooty of youI'd rather go off what I see and if there's nothing there to see, why bother guessing.
What I'm saying is that even "I don't like Smith's comment or body language there" (on the track, or a presser, or whatever else) is still a thousand times more meritorious than what we've just discussed.Everything looks a bazillion % good if you only go off what you see then just about all the time.
I didn't bring up the wedding thing... Although I do believe what Art said (no reason to think he is making it up).
Chawks is in the know and has also alluded to there being a little something there.
I know a guy who is very very close with some doggies guys... Word from him/them is consistent with what others have said.
It doesn't bother me... All we can do is hope all is good and Smith plays good footy (I respect he puts in on the track and always trying to get better).
We see the occasional 2-second clip of him training or taking a pic here and there... If that makes people think all is good then that's ok.
No club has perfect harmony with the entire squad (well I doubt they do) so I just hope this is the norm and in time we aren't talking about something more.
I'm pumped to see Smith play. Fingers crossed he will be a great recruit for many years to come.
I don't doubt he is a little different though and might not be every player's cup of tea... They can work around it.
Even oil and water can work pretty well if you give the salad dressing bottle a good shake
yeah that looked pretty spontaneous, not like he spent training practicing it.I can overlook that in the Grand Final (Jezza cracking open a tinny in 2022 is now part of Grand Final folklore in my book) but yeah, home & away season theatrics are a bit much.
Apparently he had a slice of cake just 5% above the standard size.OK for us latecomers here (sorry) can someone link me to the post by Chawts or whoever about what someone said Smith said or did at some wedding or something? TIA
I vowed to die on that hill, then a professional chef friend made me a pizza with fresh chargrilled pineapple on a pizza that was pretty wildly good. And pineapple on pizza is a disgrace!
I'll die on that hill.
It was more the way he ate it. Like a prima DonnaApparently he had a slice of cake just 5% above the standard size.
Nothing to be alarmed about, but certainly worth noting.
Poor COS "chasing" Holmes at the 2:12mins into the above video lol.

I don't know what a prima Donna is
I think Menzel was a case of the damage being done. Sure, most players bounce back after 1 ACL...but 4? Even then, he kicked 33 goals in 18 games in 2016 and 40 goals in 19 games in 2017 - bloody good numbers for someone who was limited.
I get a little sad whenever his name's mentioned, of all the "what ifs...", him having healthy knees is probably one of the bigger ones (at least for our club).
And pineapple on pizza is a disgrace!

Spot on, its a clean slate and a new environment.Excellent post DB but I'd also like to add that Chris Scott is a very different coach to Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge, as Bevo can be known to have low tolerance levels if he sees things a little differently or is under the heat, as where with Chris.... he's really matured over the years as a coach, to the point where I now have the utmost confidence in him to do most things exceptionally well 98% of the time and if anybody is going to get the best out of Bailey Smith it will be Chris Scott, similar to Blighty with Gazza Snr.
And pineapple on pizza is freaking awesome.Even oil and water can work pretty well if you give the salad dressing bottle a good shake

"My uncle's gardener's masseuse works with the GFC and said Smith double dipped a chip on his first day" doesn't quite cut it for me to be judge, jury and executioner. But we all live by different standards and I expect simple boredom or anxiety are what get most people carried away.
I'm really keen to see him play, too. As for the gossip: people mature. And this is a chance for him to reset and grow into a new version of himself - immersed in a different culture, surrounded by different team-mates, guided by level-headed legends like Dangerfield, overseen by quality coaches like Chris Scott. If he can't pull it together, so be it. But I reckon our club and this moment are as good a chance as he'll get. And I'm hopeful and excited to see how it all plays out.Everything looks a bazillion % good if you only go off what you see then just about all the time.

Holy crap. Thankyou for fully informing meApparently he had a slice of cake just 5% above the standard size.
