Training 2025 Pre-Season - Standards are currently being driven

Can we get a hashtag on training reports? I enjoy a step away from incessant BF-ing throughout the season but it would be great to keep up with training.

Let’s see some #rooports pls

Where’s the ****ing hashtag?!?
I've #rooported Passmore for not using the #rooport Hashtag. It's #roodementary but I have also explained how using the #rooport hashtag helps posters differentiate between actual training #rooports and the general #rooting around that is happening of late, not to mention the #rood back and forth between some posters.

So... 3x AA/Premiership players have confirmed that our training standards are up there with their previous teams.... But the faceless names on BF told me that our training standards were Alice Springs E grade level.
They're not going to come out and say otherwise.

Not sure shitting on your new teammates directly to the media would go down well when making first impressions.
In fact its exactly what they should be saying externally to build confidence within the group.

Without checking, I reckon the worst performing side in Alice Springs E Grade would have won more than 15 games over the past 5 years. FWIW.

Seeing that Clarkson admitted that our training standards weren't up to scratch during the season just past then the faceless BF types might have been onto something. :stern look

Except it wasn't to the media. It was conversations that Larkey had with them in private, and then Larkey mentioned it during the presser

I guess Larkey is just full of shit

Interesting move. Even though he was Saints NGA, I believe we could list him as a Category B rookie - paging The Nostradamus

I recall reading an article that he might go as high as 30s, but he’s obviously gone undrafted and the Saints didn’t even want him on their own Category B list (not that that necessarily means anything - see us re Mansell).

roos_fanatic08 The Talent Scout What are your thoughts on Cole?
Yeah don't mind him. 194cm athletic defender who can lockdown well and reads the play well. He'd be worth a punt on given Kal Dawson and Pink have some question marks beyond next year and are similar heights but not as athletic.

I think Nicky D had a better natural running ability.

But if you look at their year 1-4 stat lines they are almost identical
Agree. Powell has some tools though, is already IMO a stronger build and even though NDS had great class and vision I'm not sure he has anywhere near the handball of Powell. Anyway, every player is different, we don't need a mid career NDS - we need Powell to become the best version of himself he can be to complement what we have.

Nick Dal Santo wasn’t the flashiest or most exciting player. He rarely “won a game on his own boot”. He didn’t take speckies or kick wonder goals. He didn’t have an incredible step or a fend off.

But he was player with no clear weaknesses. He did everything well. Excellent kick. Great tank. Knew how to rack up disposals. Won his own ball. Great decision maker. Good games sense. Would pop up for a goal. Was a good leader.

I think we need more of that type of reliably very good player. We’ve had just a few too many players with devastating capabilities, breathtaking in moments but who go missing or flake or baffle or seemingly give up.

I started reading your post and almost typed exactly the bold before getting to it. Was not the best at anything IMO, but did almost every skill to a very high level. Ultimate all rounder. If Powell can get to a similar level he will be a huge asset and great player to have when you lose someone to injury - plug him anywhere and he can perform.

I'm far from LMac's biggest fan, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that every photo of him at training is just him smiling or laughing. Does he even football?

The more unkind person might say it’s better if he doesn’t. He’s sticking to his strengths.

Yeah he comes out on to the field smiles a few times and then goes get a rub down
