Physicality and marking were slight chinks in NDS armour imo.Nick Dal Santo wasn’t the flashiest or most exciting player. He rarely “won a game on his own boot”. He didn’t take speckies or kick wonder goals. He didn’t have an incredible step or a fend off.
But he was player with no clear weaknesses. He did everything well. Excellent kick. Great tank. Knew how to rack up disposals. Won his own ball. Great decision maker. Good games sense. Would pop up for a goal. Was a good leader.
I think we need more of that type of reliably very good player. We’ve had just a few too many players with devastating capabilities, breathtaking in moments but who go missing or flake or baffle or seemingly give up.
