Sounds like Caleb's flying, haven't heard a single training report without his name mentioned.
He’s going to be such an asset to our backline. To have someone there with his elite foot skills, football nous, poise under pressure and experience will be extremely valuable. Especially when you compare it to LMac’s hoof and hope strategy.

Knowing he frees up Colby as well to move further up the ground will be priceless.

Yeah but pick 25
I’ve no problem with this. We have such a glut of kids right now I think this is draft capital very well spent.

Let’s say also I have infinitely less issue with giving away our 2nd rounder for Caleb than I did when we did the same for CCJ. Now THAT was a disastrous trade which I called the day we made it.

I drove up from Melbourne this morning to have a Quick Look at the boys training.

Gav Urquhuart is going to be a star, awesome pace and has put on some real bulk.
Liam Anthony has really taken his fitness to a new level and could be the difference we need.
Really like the look of this new kid we have drafted as a key forward Paul Geister I think his name is?
Oh and Shane Clayton looks to be the hard in and under player we’ve been crying out for.

Yeah but pick 25
And will prove to be a deadset bargain. AA, premiership player and in the leadership group of a contending team versus an unknown, speculative pick.

We would be lucky to have nailed a handful of second round picks in the last 39 drafts.

A no brainer.

I reckon after a handful of games pick 25 will be forgotten. On top of leadership and experience his elite disposal off the half back line is exactly what we need. The fact that he's burning the track is a fair indication of his character, I'm thinking we'll surprise a few this season and Caleb and Parker will be a big reason.

There will always be some heavily tracking the careers of players taken around that pick no matter how Daniel performs for us sadly.

Something left field as an idea and I wish could happen but won’t.
Wouldn’t it be nice to play a scratch match against a top 8 team, either before or after Christmas.

I know it’ll never happen and the sides will never be full strength, but I’d love to see us go up against a Hawthorn or Bulldogs half way through the summer, just to get an idea of where we are at.

There’s always a wake up call delivered to us in February and then we go into round 1 with less confidence and it’d be nice to see how we’re going a couple of months out of the season opener.

You could call it the summer series or something like that.
But yes, I know it just will never happen.

Just don't see it being a very useful tool.

Clubs already use the preseason games to tinker and tool up for the season in a way that they aren't the best indicator. Som random scratch match a couple of months earlier is certainly not going to be taken seriously enough to bother.

I reckon we'll play another tall, but don't disagree with much else

What's with Darling playing at ff and Larkey at chf from fox?
JD always played CHF at West Coast leading up the ground or to the wing in the games i saw. Larkey has played FF for us predominantly over the past few seasons.
Now they're all of a sudden switching positions?

Yeah, Darling’s experience and guile would be best used further up the field you would think?

Under Scott, we did have competitive simulation training sessions against Geelong with umpires present. It was an interesting idea but it sounds like all involved thought it was pretty awkward. Anything that might help the team would be worth looking into though.

Duck Yeah keeps throwing out cryptic clues about Luke McDonald.

And I'm having a hard time trying to work out what he's saying.

The stuff around McDonald is funny to me.

If he’s fit he’s going to play round 1.

As a club we tend not to shit on blokes who really put in to the club.

While I personally don’t see McDonald or Jy as the optimal choices to remain captains I do not see the club just blanket dropping them either.

There is the reality of what the club does and then there’s the head narrative that some posters make up about how the club will act.

Big old grain of salt but there is often a big difference between some of the outrage on here and the thoughts within the club.
