We didn't have to use those picks on established players. And the trade didn't use one either, it was 17 + Fisher for 21 + 25.
I will conceded not having to use that 2023 pick on an established player. But pick 21 was most certainly a concession pick. Concession pick and 25 for Fisher and 17 seems pretty good value to me.

Fisher isn't great but his drafting wasn't the disaster some are making out

The trade was fine. The choice of player and contract length was the issue for me.

The most interesting part of this pre season for me is the development of Goad. He looked a mile off last year but upside is obviously there and he is obviously a project. Will be curious to see what he does.
Other interesting parts are return of Goater and lesser extent for me George.
Hardeman could have a sneaky run at our best 22
Duurs i still feel takes more time, W Dawson and Matlock who is forward and who is back.
My expectations for Goad are to show some signs at VFL this year and look ready for a game some time in 2026.

This might be a stupid question since I haven’t been to a training session since 98, but if it’s advertised on the website can we go watch? Was thinking to go this morning - it looks like they have a session at Southport

It’s confusing on their website it says there is training 9:30-12 but there’s a member event from 9:30-11:30
Probably combined both elements with today’s session. I.e. Light training and then the standard meet and greet, etc.

the members are probably enclosed and closer to the action. You’ll be right, head in, slap a pineapple at 9am, head out and check the action. When theyre finished, grab a pint and slap another pineapple

Could end up being a big draft year for us if Goad Dawson and Hardeman all turn into best 22 players on top of Durs and Kerch

There will always be some heavily tracking the careers of players taken around that pick no matter how Daniel performs for us sadly.
I am just happy to have a decent kick in the backline to free up Kerch and Sheez.

The stuff around McDonald is funny to me.

If he’s fit he’s going to play round 1.

As a club we tend not to shit on blokes who really put in to the club.
Maybe that's been part of our problem? Picking blokes who are good clubmen, rather than being selected on performance

Just watched the 2014 Final. Just hope this group can bring us back. Was just comparing midfields Rekon this time round there will be more run and spread. Specially with McKercher & FOS
