Training 2025 Pre-Season - Standards are currently being driven

G'day. Just coming from the Tigers board. Just wanted to say that I have been reviewing all the AFL preseason boards and this seems to be the most interactive. 180 pages and counting compared to other boards is crazy. Some only have 12 pages. Two teams don't even have a forum for preseason.

Shout out to all the people giving play by play commentary of the match sims. Not many boards are doing this. I'm glad to see Tom Powell, WAP and Goad doing well in preason. There were sporadic periods in games when Powell was elite last year (before being moved out the mid). If he can do it consistently inside you have a real player there. Goes without saying that Sheezel, Parker, Xerri, LDU already class acts.

Anyway, even though there will be argy-bargy from other tigers supporters death riding north for that draft pick. Just wanted to say I hope north does well this year. I wound't be surprised to see you push into the 9-13 bracket on the ladder. So far I can see Melbourne, WB, Essendon, Collingwood sliding further down creating further opportunity. WB is questionable call considering how they finished, but I'm not impressed by their preason training standards so far.

Anyway I'm rattling on now. have a good preason Kangas.

I really don't mind if Tigers fans have a death ride thread and cheer against/shit on us all year on their board. As long as they're not trolling over here, it's all just good fun.

We're not Poort fans, going to other boards looking to get our feelings hurt and defend our team's honour.

From what I saw in the 2s last year, Maley is a neat field kick; set shots not so much
Reckon a bit of this is players feeling they have to kick the ball as far as they can when taking a set shot. Eddie Ford is a good kick but falls for this trap. Larkey kicks within himself only kicking it just far enough and doesn't overkick. Consequently miles more accurate. all the great goalkickers only kick it it just enough. P Hudson the exception but he was a freak with the flat punt which wobbled everywhere but went dead straight.

Just found this in the cupboard not even that olde , hasn’t aged that well.View attachment 2210515

Yeah, well other teams have shit to get excited about in the season proper. This (and the AFLW) is one of the few times we get to win and have the best players on the park.

I pity you reading through the Star Wars pages

But thoughts on the Star Wars starting teams put up?

I was there last year and have to say intensity up. In particular our ability to lock ball in. Last year was much to one sided.

Notes from me to add to the others for the day…

Concern from my end was KPD not playing today. Logue, Corr and Archer not out there. I did see someone say Arch was out there but I didn’t see him if he was. KD and Chom prob competing for that third spot assuming no injury. Both had moments today but wasn’t our strongest line. Finbar is interesting there with his athleticism aswell. I just have to assume W Dawson as a Forward will be the plan. More so if Finbar and Matlock are added to defensive stocks.

Goater was great to see having a run. He did deliver some beautiful kicks from the backline and competed really well with the taller oppo like Larkey when rotating. Wouldn’t be surprised if he replaced LMAC this season at some stage.
LMAC unfortunately had a poor day for my mind. 1st qtr out marked by Larkey and Finbar. Prob why I have Goater ahead of him long term.
Duurs is a watch for me. Seems alittle seperate to the group and just not quite gelling yet. Could just be me though… hope it is. Also coming off an injury.
Players in 2nd gear who just show brilliance when they want to are LDU, Sheez and Xerri. Almost add Kerch. I thought Kerch was off then on the 2nd half started to show his talent.
Fisher looks super focused. I feel his work rate and drive has been super high. Same goes for WAP as noted.
Hardeman natural footballer. Had less of the ball today but effective when he has it.
Bull was ok but will want more from him start of the year.
Won’t go into huge detail but obvious standouts being Powell, Phillips, Finbar, Larkey.
Goad has come a mile. I still don’t think plays this year but if he improves at this rate he will be elite. Much more of a competitor than I saw last year.
‘LDU in second gear’ been on the bingo card for a while now.

When’s he going into 5th?

Enjoy pick 1 and 2 in the draft. Sensational trading and complete buffoonery from our muppets in the trade arena.
