It's not just Smiley Boy who has raised concerns over Marra's behaviour and some of it is hitting the mainstream press too.

His spot in the round 1 side is not a given at this point.
Yeah i think he will be playing round 1 its given i have no doubt

Great….another year of Essendon dickheads sending me stuff about “trouble at the kennel” and “Marra out”

Wouldnt be surprised if he's shipped off at end of the year if his off field behaviour doesn't improve

Which club’s major sponsor is putting in the ground work and white anting us this time ?

I have no doubt He wont be shipped of at the end of next year and that will be other thing u get wrong you can say oh well he has has good info Cool idc he kicked 43 Goals this year did you forget.

What has last season got to do with what has been posted ?
You always defend this club and players no matter what.
Wish I had your blind faith.

Because i really dont give a shit if he Partied on the weekend . I also hate the constant we have to trade him . And making up so many remours about him like any other club would love to have him

No, you can only view the world through his lense. I’d be extremely surprised if it’s not a new MD account, same combative posting style where nobody can tell them otherwise

Most people don’t want to trade him. If his behaviour is a reported and has an effect on his preparations then he isn’t fulfilling his contract.
I really hope the rumours aren’t true and that he becomes what we all want him to be, with the Dogs.

Let’s hope Marra gets it out of his system over the Christmas period and locks in next year.

His job is a professional footballer which means turning up to ALL programmed training sessions required unless he has an injury that prohibits that (he'd still be there but in physio), having a hangover from a big weekend on the piss doesn't fall into any of those categories.

Partied is an understatement the guys needs rehab
Assuming all this is true - and I've no reason to doubt you apart from the routine need for due diligence on such matters - this shapes up as a test for our club.

Do we ship him out or can we salvage his career, and by extension our own considerable investment in the player?

As others have noted we have reached a point with quite a few players in recent years where we just wash our hands of the player and write off his value as a bad investment or just bad luck. Then we offload him at the first reasonable opportunity, often at fire sale prices.

Some of the high profile ones would be Lachie Hunter, Jake Stringer and perhaps Luke Dahlhaus. All of them 2016 Bullgods. Maybe even Bailey Smith although he's a more complex case. Marra is in that same category of errant high profile player. There have been some lesser lights who have left abruptly under a cloud too, but I don't need to name them here.

The only high profile player I can think of who we stuck by was Libba. He of King St pavement fame. Our perseverance in that instance has been handsomely rewarded. So what's different here?

I wonder how hard we are going to try with our latest bad boy. Apart from the purely bean-counting aspect of it, don't we also have an obligation to do our best for the players' health, wellbeing and development?

We boasted how we developed Marra as a junior. We then paid a high draft price to bring him into the big world of AFL, media attention, fan worship and high disposable income. So, without absolving him of the need for self-discipline, we are partly responsible for where he now finds himself. Where's our sense of pastoral care? Are we incapable of it? Or have we already been quietly doing that for several years and now feel we can do no more?

So far nobody has suggested he has a particular beef with the club (unlike BSmith) so I see no particular reason - apart from the cliched "fresh start"- that he needs to go to another one.

I want us to continue to do our best to bring him round and allow him to become the player he has always promised to be. With us.

All valid points, but the unique case for Libba has his father, a heavy weight Brownlow medalist with the club, and no doubt still has some pull and influence, to get his son back on the right track. If memory serves, he served his penance on a building site.

True, but Lachie Hunter's Dad Mark has had a strong association with the club. We offloaded Lachie cheaply. Maybe they just saw more hope for Libba Jr than Lachie?

Smith, Jammarah, Hunter, Stringer, Dunkley all from Paul Conners agency. I’d imagine we’re just sick of dealing with his players. Although how do you stop when he basically runs the afl..

I don’t think people realise just how out of control Lachie was throughout his later years at the club

As poorly behaved as Libba and some of our other “party boys” have been at times, Lachie was at the point where him being on the list/in the AFL for as long as he was was something of a minor miracle
