Only Jamarra knows what’s going on with Jamarra. The only thing I am confident of is that he’s being paid 80-90k per/month from the club and in return he’s spending his time boxing with his mates.

We’ve all got shit going on at home and in our families in varying degrees. Yep 18, 19 and 20 year-olds included, caucasian, indigenous or otherwise. This doesn’t mean you can desert your post at work and expect your employer to keep paying you. If he can’t cope with the job, he should quit or show-up (potentially through sufferance) and try to make the best of the situation This is a decision millions of people grapple with everyday. Why is it that footballers should be immune from the reality of 99% of the population?

It’s not just Jamarra wanting time away mate.. the dogs want him to have time away also. Hence, still gets paid.

we've said this a few times before, however there seems to be a culture problem at the dogs over the last 10 years for whatever reason. dunkley admitted this.

far too many players are having issues

Can you quote Dunkley saying that?

Re JUH, for those in the know, can you please put one issue to rest? Is there a club culture issue contributing to the personal/family problems that JUH is suffering from?

All clubs have issues, ours are generally off field issues. Some clubs think they have better culture and take those troubled players, and are surprised when they do not change.

The players Dunkley was referring too fit in that category and are no longer at the club.

The only players who can get over those off field issues are those who really love and want to pit in the work to succeed.

So when you use the term we've, it is all encompassing.

I don't believe we have any more or less than any other AFL club

Dunkley said that after the Covid 2020 season, supposedly while he was doing laps of the resort other players were getting drugs smuggled in via tennis balls after the fence. Still doesn't make sense why he would quote culture and then request a trade to Essendon of all places. The fact he got Dodoro'd played a massive factor in him letting his contract run down so he could ultimately pick his next destination (Brissy). I think there was some BS sound grab with him during his first pre-season with the Lions saying he is surprised at how much more they run in their sessions, that is also often used as a major reason for him leaving.

i know all teams have their issues - melb recently haven't handled things well last few years

just wondering if we have the best leadership equipped to deal with such issues.

My thoughts based on no inside knowledge whatsoever.

We do not have a culture problem. Can anyone on here list a group of ratbags or notoriously lazy players or even coaches that might not be highly professional?

In the past maybe, with the likes of Stringer and Hunter but now? If anything our problem is the opposite, not enough hard ass campaigner types and underachievement on field.

The problem we still have is “small club mentality.”

If anything we make players feel too comfortable, have too many nice guys not driving the culture and standards hard enough and as a result our team underachieves.

Then these guys with huge expectations or egos (Dunkley, Sniff and Marra) get totally ear ****ed by their agents and other recruiters and think I’m better than the Dogs.

I think the situation is pretty obvious.

Bont is a good nice leader and Bevo is a good nice coach. But the leadership pool demanding success at all costs around them…..pretty bloody thin.

Agree, we need someone with a Rick Kennedy/Jim Edmond/Matty Boyd/Dale Morris attitude to shake things up and get a number of the players (senior players included) playing for the jumper not the pay cheque.

In 10 years time there'll be an issue at the club and people will be saying jeez I wish we still had a champion leader like All-Australian Captain, multiple MVP Marcus Bontempelli
