Can any of the watchers at the ground give us a rundown on how Crossley did?

Some of his ruck work in that clip was not very flattering (4:36 mark).
IMO he’s way overweight for AFL, we need a ruck support but I’d take Brew over him on todays game

Just my opinion Brew looks like an undersized slowish inside mid.

I don’t think he covered the ground that well and there is an ability to spin the magnets through the middle that I personally don’t think he’s required.

Whereas I can see Crossley being of value in about 5-7 games a year. Wet/windy conditions he probably presents a bid bodied alternative as Smith is not ready for that role.

If English misses any duration of games this year, I think the alarm bells should be ringing in terms of our ruck stocks. Especially when it’s pretty much set in stone that Lobb is desperately required down back and Darcy desperately required up forward with how our pre season has played out.

He provided a good physical presence. Not a lot around the ground but could be a chance to take the ruck spot with English injured.

How did Luke Kennedy go today? Prospects for the year?

Having been around and coached him last couple of years, super interested to follow along his progress.

Thanks,

He was ok without dominating. Quite a few of the senior players looked that way today. Just getting through the game without too much injury, did some nice things.

Unless Brew has a standout trait then I'm going Crossley. We've already got guys like Sanders, M Kennedy, West, Garcia, Williams and Scott who can go through the middle (as well as a clear top 4 inside mids).

Crossley would want to hit the track though. In some of the clips he looks like he'd struggle to get back for a centre bounce after a goal.

Im not sure how the possible loss of a generational KPF from the game let alone our team can be considered a blessing in disguise. From what I recall it was when Beveridge dropped his ludicrous idea of playing 4 talls in the forward line that it finally began to take shape and function as a dangerous and cohesive unit. The lack of pressure on the ball coming out of our forward half was as much a consequence of the small/medium forwards and mids not setting up quickly or working hard enough to get coverage across the ground.

Whether this was the fault of the coaching panel or the players I dont know. Sure JUH wasn't great in this regard but it speaks volumes for teh rest of the side that Naughton always appeared to be the guy who worked the hardest defensively in this regard.

Which for mine is an indictment on the smalls. Especially the guys filling the other forward slots if they weren't reliably hitting the scoreboard.
I agree with what you say wholly. I think that what I did not explain correctly, is perhaps forward pressure is best with 4 smalls who chase hard ala kind of Collingwood. But I agree with what you explain in terms of our smalls not putting enough pressure on the opps defensive rebound. Maybe 4 smalls solves this issue.

Are you talking Luke here , or Mathew Kennedy DG ?
The question was about Luke , the new draftee.

Cooper Hynes has something about him too….had a good chat to him. Seems like a good lad and very vocal onfield
Good to ear but not surprising.
Was captain at u18 level, and he was the forward/mid 'swapping partner' with my favourite kid in the draft (Harvey Landford).

I don’t want to sound too harsh but, is he actually looking likely to play at AFL level?
It's hard with someone like Busslinger in these games because he might play really well without standing out.

Even if he gets a game at AFL level early on, it's going to be playing a specific role rather than racking up 20 touches and taking 5 intercept marks.
