Ladies and gentlemen of the jury ... I submit that the prosecution have not proven their case by providing one single example of an error in judgement from the accused, but in fact, have proven the defence case by showing that the accused was indeed in the defensive part of the ground at the time the error was made. This does not display the characteristics of a one way runner.

In the spirit of the production of singular examples to make one's case, the defence would like to enter into evidence the following:

As the prosecution has prematurely rested your honour, I request a dismissal of all charges, restitution granted, a the prosecution to be summarily flogged.

The defence sits back in quiet condescension and a smattering of mirth.

Walshy so not a one way runner but this play still shat me. Who else were Collingwood going to set up for one last ping at goal? On the team to be smarter, talk to each other, help each other.

What I meant was that (regardless of what Fwd position he plays) I'd like to see Kemp as the main focal point to see what he's capable of. I can just see him taking some good grabs with his natural spring and good hands.
I reckon with the Twin Towers and Kemp it will be a very potent combo.
Happened last year on the back end

Not sustainable as a key

Case dismissed based on a significant lack of evidence on the part of the prosecution

Referral made to relevant authorities for sustained frivolous allegations on the part of the prosecution

Recommend prosecution take the time to investigate the footage before mounting future contentions

Could have been #28 Charleston? Or they're just wearing other numbers at training which seems to happen a bit
I think it may have been Harry Charleston yes 👍 according to Bucky off my blue heaven has been training well previously- one to keep an eye on. In any case I like the cut of his jib. Also echoing Bucky, how ripped is Lachie Cowan - looks primed for a big year no doubt. Keeping the old farts honest the younger brigade 😁

Early start is a thing with these days. The little bit of training they did was little more than a stretch in their groups. Today suggested as 9am start, I will be there before 8 (southern posters remember Qld is on real time, not daylight savings time)
Tell me about it Coona. I was on the Gold Coast for a weeks break 3 weeks ago and it was weird waking at sunrise at 4.45am.

I'd like posters who want teenagers to be given a run "to blood them" - also post who they would drop/replace to make room - every time they post the old 'play the kids' line. I think that is only fair and woudl improve discussion quality imo.

Slotting out a list of kids says nothing about who they are replacing and why.
Many here, probably even you, would've had a couple of Kennedy, Owies, Martin, Marchbank and our very own blue unicorn, Cunners, in their best 22/23. Should be enough reason.

A bit damp here. A few boys just running out, early.View attachment 2188366View attachment 2188367

Piss poor post Coona Blues. WTF are the skiffle boards???....I mean you can't have better conditions for skiffleboarding on a footy oval than that. Imagine Walshy, Weitering, Crippa & Harry skiffleboarding around on that. Would Jagga & Lord even know what a skiffle board is??? Do you reckon the HP, Fitness, Medical and Coaching staff would absolutely shit themselves watching their prized stars skimming across the surface. Gov would rip his hammy off the bone just looking on.

.....and to think we did all of this as kids with no pads, no helmets, no supervision and absolutely no fear, whilst crashing into anyone and everyone who dared get in our path. It's almost a lost art these days. Where's the worlds' sense of adventure gone???

Owies and Kennedy played every game last year - wots your point? Kennedy finished top10 in BF playing out of his natural position all year Owies kicked over 30 goals - do you ahve problem with that?

Marchbank Cuningham and Martin couldnt get on the park and stay there - none of these blokes kept any other player out- by definition - so what exacty is the point you are making?

Yove just named two of the better performers for Carlton to lump in with three blokes that were injured all year- and so couldnt be keeping ANYONE out of contention...

I'm scratching my head trying to 'decipher' your "logic" or even connect to teh post I made... tbh.

Voss mentioned 5 or 6 young player names that he wants to see contributing to the senior team this year. I can't remember for sure the names he mentioned, but Lord, Binns, Moir and Lemmey were 4 of them. I think Wilson got a mention but not as one of the ones expected to make a huge contribution to the seniors.

I can't see who Lemmey would play in front of. I have Moir and Binns in my side with Lord thereabouts. I have Smith in my side of course. The rest have to play a solid block of VFL football in order to stand out.

As to who those 3 or 4 replace. Well, we have a hole from Kennedy going, a fringe spot with Carroll going, and a forward slot with Owies going. Moir for Owies, Smith for Kennedy. Cowan is the heir apparent for Newman. Saad is going to have to have a replacement waiting in line ... perhaps that is Wilson.

I can see scope for one or both of the Camporeales to get a run later in the year. We wouldn't want to see form lapses like we saw last year from some senior players. Cottrell is going to have to fight for a spot. Cerra, injury free, doesn't have any excuses. Elijah needs to find his spot because we have specialist forwards lining up, and specialist midfielders too.

The thing is we have so many experienced players now that there is potentially room for a few first and second year players, if worthy.

Peak Walshy.
What a superstar.... just hope his back stays good.

If all 6 are playing come end of season we’re in good shape.

I like what Voss is doing shaking up the team cause we weren’t winning it with how we were structured or personal.

I hope Voss is seriosuly considering them

IF they are in the side I hope it's because of form and not injury issues. If it is we are looking very good

I'm not sure structure is the issue.

Defensively we were awful.

Not just the back 6, but all over the ground.

All fowards (i.e. Charlie Curnow) need to pressure the footy.

And our mids need to stop letting the footy get to the outside so easily when we don't win the contest.

Joel Selwood is a horrible commentator but often talks about the concept of "clean ball" and "dirty ball".

I think it's effort & mindset more than structure.

Need to take the downhill skis off and put in the effort, 4 quarters, 25 games a year.

The usual positive stories about our preseason. TBH, after years of hope, I'm over it. Actions speak louder than words.

Defensively we were horrible in 2024. So many players across the ground not being accountable and not putting in effort. Our defenders were good, but not great. Having so many lapses that cost us goals.

Our conservative movement of the ball was horribly predictable and painstaking to watch.

Our poor skills often led to turnovers and easy goals on transition (also due to our lack of 2-way running).

If our younger players put their hands up over the preseason, then so be it. Select them. Integrity at the selection table. If senior players are incapable of playing to the standard required, find form in the 2's.

As I see it, everyone is on notice. Set high standards and do not accept anything less. Regardless of the name.

It's also on the coaching panel. Our game plan has to be up to the standard to win finals. We have the cattle. Give them something to work with and believe in.

I would absolutely love seeing a couple of young kids selected for round 1. We had a lot of players who were mediocre in 2024 for one reason or another. It is up to them to lift/return to AFL level fitness, so their positions are not taken by a youngster. The majority are fringe players, but we need them lifting, or our youngsters going past them.

Cerra (injuries)
Saad
Motlop (injuries)
C Durdin (injuries)
Fantasia
Kemp
Walsh (injuries)
Boyd (form/injuries)
Fog (injuries)
Pitt (form)
Curnow (injuries didn't allow him to chase)
Young
Cottrell (injuries)
Cincotta (injuries/form)

I really want to see our training standards lift, with a focus on two- way running, team defence, skills and explosiveness/connection out of the contest. It appears this is the focus..

Ollie, Jagga, Moir, Motts, Lord, Cowan.

3 are already in the side, and the other 3 will play a lot. We will lower our age profile a little, but won't lose quality. Exactly what we want our side to be doing.

Generally, analysis whether we win or lose can be extreme, especially player output

Personally the two biggest factors leading into the season is what tweaks evolve in the gameplan/tactics and total player buy in to play their role

We've seen that our attacking and defensive structures were good enough, but lacked consistency throughout a game and season.

I put this down to poor tempo and or feel for the moment or periods of a game
