Not sure about this. It's a bit awkward but at training seems to be very effective. Has good vision
That weird technique does give him a low ball drop which should help control his kicks over time. The issue seems to be when hes on the move. His technique doesnt seem to translate well to kicking on the run. Maybe he just needs to steady better?

On the plus side, he can kick it 55+ easily and is quite a penetrating kick when he goes long. Also, seems to know his limitations.

Ben and Lucas have are good prospects and dad will keep well grounded.
It must be awesome for all our youngsters, to be part of a footy team with a hand full of very high profile elite footballers.

Has a terrible ball drop on the move. Helicoptered a hell of a lot of disposals in juniors.

Will be a work in progress for his whole career imo but still projects to be a good player due to his other work.

Sounds like a Glenelg boy for sure. Kernahan was a decent kick when he came to the club, then started doing the helicopter punts more as he got older. Maybe Ben can come to the club doing helicopter punts and get better. The reverse Kernahan.

Don’t think Wilson has the tank or IQ that makes Ollie a terrific prospect down there. Wilson is more explosive, but probably would struggle in the role Ollie will play
Not sure about having a crack at his IQ. I watched every game and he seemed very composed and poised under pressure, and had better decision making ability compared to others in his team. Maybe his haircut choice does prove there may be something missing but rumour has it the ladies love it.

100% agree with this. I watched Wilson last season and he looked every bit the AFL player. Has the poise, skills and smarts along with some leg speed. Real chance to play this season

A lot of people around club have been commenting on changes to training. Major focus on speed and power. Lot of positivity from players

I'm not an expert on this but I wonder if Russell just got us very fit but explosiveness of modern game caused a lot of issues/injuries when we weren't prepared for that type of work. To my eye we always looked fit but our players also looked very lean

I will be very intersted to see how this plays out. Hope it works as IMO it's our biggest issue

Well Innes is ticking all of my boxes.

More power through midfield:thumbsu:
A speedier Motlop :thumbsu:

If he can put 3-4kg of muscle on Ollie and an arse on Harry I say let's build the statue.

Not saying he doesn’t have a good footy IQ. But every player that plays the roaming ‘see ball, get ball’ half back at a high level has very high footy IQ. I think Ollie is that calibre, Wilson maybe not yet. Was very impressed with him in the VFL all season, but don’t know whether he’s suited to the role being talked about for him by some fans

Wilson is a very good prospect. I suspect, like me, you baulk at the level of “love” he has had in team projections and the like. We have a significant list of general defender candidates for the coming season and for mine, Billy has some work to do to jump those starting in front of him.

Newman, Saad, Cowan, Ollie H., Boyd, Cincotta are there for probably four best 22 spots. Then we have Smith and the Campos as possible candidates to kick off careers, and Charleson may surprise a few. Elijah has been spoken of as going back at times and for me a slim possibility Lord has a spot “created” to get him in after a stellar pre season.

I really like Billy, but will be surprised, even amazed if we see him early in the top team.

At this stage, can't see Wilson getting a game ahead of any 5 of Newman, Saad, Cowan, Ollie, Boyd, Cincotta, Doc, Gov (if we run with 2 tall options of Weitering and Haynes or Young)

I also see Lucas as being ahead of him for a HB role

Allow Wilson to develop naturally at VFL level, working on his strengths and weaknesses
Is he soild enoigh to cover either of those at this stage if we have a run of injuries...
