Remember my son around ‘16/‘17 (who was about 16 at the time) coming back from training one night.
Said, “he’s a stallion”, I said who, “that Charlie Curnow, he just moves different to other players. He just glides”
The small glimpses I’ve seen of this kid, he just seems to move different to other players.
Think we may have got one here.
Not like he snuck under the radar mate.
Hope we make him put in a few good vfl games before he gets a debut.
Not sure we need to put him straight in.

I understand what you’re saying but tend to disagree.
I think he is more like a Walsh, Butters, Daicos type, you plug him in from day one.
He’s different to what we’ve got.
He gets it, gives it, gets it back and is a gone type of player.
We don’t have that.
Closest we have is Walsh & Cerra. I don’t think either of those have this blokes movement, elusiveness.
Acknowledged that we have to temper expectation as he’s still just a puppy, but we may just have the right mix this year to allow this one to play with the big dogs.
I think the biggest difference to previous years is that for the first time during this list build we are able to bring in an elite midfield talent to an already established midfield core.
He can be icing, not the cake.

Apparently Jack ready for full contact work. Charlie still to be eased into it but seems fine. Acres may take a few weeks but no issues. Can't find anything definitive on Saad but hints are he isn't 100%. Cincotta injury quite serious and will miss pre season

Club very impressed with younger players so far. Many really pushing senior players.

Game simulation to start in 1-2 weeks. Be very interesing to see who plays where and who stands out

I asked about SSP and no one can say who will be picked. It's very very tight and any injuries over next month or so could decide

A regular track watcher named Binns Williams Lord Cowan Cerra as pre standouts so far but many doing well. Plus Smith is a genuine star
Thing about Smith is that he’s competing with some of the best players in the comp. Not the usual situation of a top 3 pick going into a terrible/young midfield and being able to stand out. If he’s standing out in our context, he’s the real deal.

( with all the usual caveats of pre-season etc)

I think Smith plays round 1. No doubt he will attract attention, so I'm more interested how he handles the situation
No great prediction Smith plays round 1. Kid is a star. Get the interested how he handles comment, but halfway through pre season he is showing his junior traits will transfer. Had him behind Draper at draft, but with Sam’s back issues, Jagga is absolutely the standout.

Even money favourite for Rising Star, even trying to get time in a stacked midfield.

More importantly, it’s nice to have a young star in our ranks again. Was definitely something the squad was lacking

Beauty for Jagga is he has the best possible midfield group to learn off
Jagga has the luxury of stepping into our midfield and not having the expectation of being the top 1-2 dogs.

It's a given and I think he will handle tge situation well

If an opposition ends up putting their best tagger on Jagga, it's happy days for Cripps, Walsh etc.

Given the much more likely scenario that Jagga doesn't cop any major attention (apart from senior players randomly trying to bump him whenever they get the chance - which won't worry him at all), he will rack up ball.

Starting to get very excited at what the kids can do.

Binns will have to get past (likely) Doc for a wing, but is pushing very hard.

Lemmey has a (seemingly) new found determination that may just see him realise the potential that had him touted as a no. 1 draft pick option pre and early season during his draft year.

Article written round about way, but read it as Cotts finished second and Ollie third. Nice to see Matty on the way back to fitness.

It's been very noticable this pre season and again yesterday. Smith Binns L.Campo Wilson O'Keefe Lord are standing out and pushing for spots and I think it is pushing a few senior players to step up

The most impressive for me so far is Williams. Looks a new player around HF and is very fit. He is like an extra mid, can find the goals and plays like a smaller CHF. Very good overhead and just finds space. Hope he can stay fit as he really makes us more dangerous

Gee, you'd think Rd 1 - the Tigers - who'll likely be playing a swag of kids themselves, the perfect intro....

Unlikely he gets too much attention v the Tigs, given they'll likely have 4 or 5 of their own kids debuting.

If Binns is smashing the door down for a wing spot, we should endeavour to make room for him and could easily shift Doc to more of a utility role.

Doc has been playing HF/on ball in match sims. Even dropping back. Binns L.Campo have seemed to be on the wings (and some other kids) more although Ollie did spend time there as well yesterday. I thought Smith may play some wing but he has been mostly midfield

Fogarty Williams Motlop have also been pushing way up the ground and then running back. Many times they have been around HB and getting possessions

Won't happen but with what we have I would prefer to see Walsh on a wing. He is a running machine and would get him away from bash and crash. Let Cripps Hewett Cerra do the tough stuff

Would love if Williams could morph into our version of Brett Daniels, someone who gets up and back, uses it well and is handy around goals. This is the type we've been lacking for so long, hopefully a strong pre season will set the table for a big year.

We're going to have 2 young stars soon. Jagga is a gun but the kid learning the most from our current midfield stars will be Cody off of Cripps before he finishes up. Jagga will just be going back and forth with Walshy for the better part of a decade.

I do wonder how we'll go about replacing Charlie and H up forward though. We have nobody on our list capable of producing the stuff they do.

Very keen to see Binns and Lord in action during match play when I get down to training next. I don't think either are critical to our success this year (given we have capable options ahead of them) but it sounds like both have done a mountain of work in the off season.

I suspect we won't see a heap of Moir early either on either, normally with players of his talent the media team would be hyping him up like anything if he was tearing up the track.

Think Moir starts round 1, but we'll see where he is at very soon
