It’s a very interesting ploy from Cox. He can’t be accused of being “same same”. My hypothesis is that he only wants good kicks back there. McCartin was a liability. Perhaps the scores he saved was less than the turnover scores he contributed? Just spit balling really.

Tmac forward is certainly not the answer, and I hope we don’t see it come season start.

He’s clearly our best defender and it would leave us even more vulnerable down back..

Only reason I can fathom that Cox would consider it is that Logan is cooked and he wants to keep the 3 tall set up..

Its a whole different skillset to transition to a forward taking a grab is one thing Tmac kicking however..

No one will have 3 talls forward , it's all pressure and bring the ball to ground

IMO he wil stay in the front half for a bit and I always thought he was a better defender

Amartey and certainly not McDonald are the answers to be able to take a grab down in the front half.

A massive thing we lack if an outlet wing mark ( Reid ) to take the pace out of the game for a bit.

Most of our losses come down to some what of not being able to take the pace of the game and have a bloke that could take a contested mark

Physicality is always humorous especially for a preseason :tearsofjoy:
It is humorous in hindsight, if the players fail to deliver on it when the season proper starts. I'm not optimistic of them doing that, so I think a lot of the stuff we see here will age badly. But I'm also prepared to not judge them on their physicality this season when they haven't had the chance to show if they've improved in it this year.

Hopefully all these pre-season clips and articles about the aggression will be able to be looked back on in six months as turning points, not laughing stocks. I guess we wait and see...

It may be an option but I question playing our best goalkicker (of [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]) as a ruck.

Discount the outlier against Adelaide and how does Amartey’s goal kicking stack up? (Ben Ronke says hi!)

Leading goalscorer for the season. Even if you take out his 9 goals v Adelaide, he would still be only be 3 goals behind Logan and still 7 in front of McLean (and played one game less than both).

Averaged more I50 marks than any other Swan (ranked 14th across the competition) and second in I50 tackles, only behind Will Hayward.

Amartey is not a star, but AFAIC he contributes.

I have heard from other teams we are also extremely lippy on the field which makes the capitulations even more embarrassing.

Welcome!

My suggestion:

(1) go to a game live. You’ll get the feel for it quickly.

(2) If a Collingwood supporter boos, the umpire is correct.

(3) If a Bulldogs supporter boos, the umpires haven’t been paid their “brown paper bag money” that week.

(4) If a GWS supporter boos …. you’re hallucinating. There are no GWS supporters. Seek medical attention.

(5) The bloke wearing no.12 for the Swans is going to win the Brownlow Medal. Several times.

(6) The pissed bloke doing a shocking Elaine dance in the aisles will be caesar88. Do not be alarmed, he’s a ubiquitous fixture.

You think Gus will win 3 Brownlows? You are nuts. He can't even play one season without injury. Do you mean 21

Again, I am completely lost. The comment RubbaDuck quoted was 100% about Rowbottom. There was not a "half" that was in reference to any other Swans player, including McInerney. RubbaDuck even acknowledged that it was a misunderstanding on their behalf. Nothing more to it.
Hey C88, I prefer "On its behalf" to "On their behalf" I'm no sentient being. My only pronouns are duck and It, as in "it's a duck (a rubber one). i'm usually half full of last week's stale bathwater. Squeeze me hard I'll squeak (and piss my cold contents over some unsuspecting bather.

As for admitting a misunderstanding, I plead the fifth.

I think the telling comments from cox was that mccartin has had 7 preseason as a defender & that it's good for players to have a bit of change in preseason. He also mentioned it helps mccartin understand different movements.

Imo it allows melican to have a greater voice & build up his skills as an organiser in defence.

I don't think mccartin will play in the fwd line but this move is done as a change up & allows melican to develop other parts of his game during preseason. Good move to trial in preseason tbh.

I think this is the main thing tbh.

And besides if McCartin does play forward, I can see him being that Reid style link up player on the wing. Arguably our best mark

I know people want Snell and sheldrick in the team but for me it's Buller and Edwards. Buller to take the fwd/ruck role and Edwards for the monster KPD.

What's up with the training tops? It looks like we have actually been clawed by a lion. First it was the moroon tops and now this one. They really don't want the players to forget the GF!

I am more excited about this year than I have been for many years. The intensity of the preseason is exciting. The intensity is way up on last year. The endurance training is huge. They also need to toughen up and that seems to be a focus too. Bringing pressure and intensity at the ball and ball carrier for extended periods seems to be a priority. So excited I could pee my pants but I am an old man and will probably only dribble lol

Most blokes will tell you their pissing gets better as they age. They piss with increasing frequency but in such diminishing volume that one day the difference between pissing and non-pissing will blur sufficiently to reinforce what is already an existential crisis of gerontology.

How is that old buggers look so damn smug after spending half their pension on a meat pie (and a cold beer to ease the scalding gravy).

Half time at the footy
-----------------------------------------
The young are forced to queue
Through the urine stench of loos

While the aged sit snug and happy
Sealed dry in grandpa nappies
