If he's replacing Sparrow I'm perfectly fine with it.
But Sparrow is a GREAT player

it hasn't stood out in training. And he's shown no power whatsoever due to his lack of speed. If we're a serious footy team Langford shouldn't be playing any games this year until he develops his speed whilst playing or Casey.Yep, his marking stood out on the highlight videos.

Petracca was a standout in the juniors and battled big time in his first year or 2 in AFL training - he was criticised for lack of fitness and speed.it hasn't stood out in training. Certainly not 'quick' by any means but Cripps has improved his speed over his career dramatically.Tell me who came into the AFL as a slow player and "developed his speed" to become a fast player by the end of his career, I'll wait.
Bowey shouldn't be allowed to play AFL again until he takes the development of his height seriously imo.
Id argue Cripps is no different over 20m's, just more powerful and better endurance to run guys into the ground in second halves. Didnt see Warner as a junior tbh so cant speak on that, but ive never thought of him as slow during his time in the AFL, always had some burst as far back as I remember.Certainly not 'quick' by any means but Cripps has improved his speed over his career dramatically.
Chad Warner another who really wasn't known for his explosiveness as a junior compared to what he's become at AFL level.
If you go back and watch their first couple seasons/junior stuff they've both improved a lot.Id argue Cripps is no different over 20m's, just more powerful and better endurance to run guys into the ground in second halves. **** off mate, if hes so good trade us Jagga for him. Thats who I wanted. If you go back and watch their first couple seasons/junior stuff they've both improved a lot.
Either way Langford is a serious footballing talent, for many of the same reasons as those raised in this thread by ur fans I didn't want him at our selection (given the Blues have the same issue of big lumbering behemoths running around in the midfield) but if he can add a yard of pace and a bit more agility to his game he should be one hell of a player.
I didn't say that he needed to become fast did I? just becoming average would be massive for his game.Ill say fair enough WalshistheGOAT good point on Warner. Had a look at his junior highlights and he looks a completely different player.
Instead of saying there is no hope Langford becomes quick ill now say there is a 1-2% chance he develops speed.
TBF, you look at him and thats honestly what I would have expected, hes a ****ing unit with a frame to get even bigger. His strengths are different to pretty much 99% of mids cause of his size so he shouldnt really be judged against other mids in that respect. By the time hes done I think we are looking at a guy ~ 95 kegs who can be a match up nightmare. (assuming the work ethic to get the best out of himself is there)I didn't say he needs to become a fast player. He'll never become that. But becoming average would be massive for his footy. Out of the 70 draftees, he was 67th in the 20m (or around there). That's a huge glaring weakness in his game and it's fair enough to improve on one's weakness.

I'm not writing off Langford. I've just got concerns over him that's all. Moreso defensively.
You obviously didn't see Clarry's backline efforts this year. Should have been AA.To be fair most gun mids are pretty shit defensively, especially the inside ones.
Bringing up an 18 year olds defensive efforts might be the dumbest thing thing ive read here and that's saying something. Defence is reserved for those who are shitTo be fair most gun mids are pretty shit defensively, especially the inside ones.

Not sure if it's true, heard Stevie J got himself in shape and hired a sprinting coach.Tell me who came into the AFL as a slow player and "developed his speed" to become a fast player by the end of his career, I'll wait.

Gonna be honest, I got a little nervous when I saw the word Coke. But when I saw that it wasn’t preceded or proceeded by the words ‘in the toilets’ I calmed down.Clarry popped into my local for a late lunch yesterday. Was with a mate and I’m pleased to say he had the roast with veg and a glass of Coke (and a couple of bets I think) and he looked very good.
Wow, what a hero. Didnt have a pot with his lunch. Give him a new deal now!Clarry popped into my local for a late lunch yesterday. Was with a mate and I’m pleased to say he had the roast with veg and a glass of Coke (and a couple of bets I think) and he looked very good.
I thought he looked lean and fit and he stayed about an hour or so.
A bit stalkerish I know, and the bloke should be allowed out without it making it onto a forum - but I genuinely thought he looked fit and in good shape, and he didn’t even have a pot of beer which he’s perfectly entitled to do.
