This thread is for the 2025 Draft Order.

Through the trade period I will try and keep it as up to date as possible, but I am one person so please be patient.

I have also set up threadmarks on the round updates, and will do the same through the trade period as picks change hands. This allows you to put the thread in reader mode, only seeing updates, or to jump back and forth to particular trades that may be of interest. To access this feature please use the button at the top right corner of the thread.

Nothing is for certain, but quite likely, yes.

If any bottom 6 team has an injury run like we did this year they could well finish last.
In my mind it is for certain, no one else will finish below us next year. We've lost Baker Bolton, Rioli and Graham, we've completely pruned the tree experience and leadership wise.
As far as North go I don't reckon they climb yet. Later down the track yes maybe Haw 2024 climb type but not yet.

Wishing North Melbourne all the best this season. May they be super competitive, sign LDU and be the hot team over next pre season. Please just win your 4-5 this year for one more year. Think they beat the dogs today unfortunately.

Hey Lore do you actually have to go into the sheet every week and have it refresh to have the data come down?

I wonder if there is a way to get it to auto refresh, I'll have a look.
It usually auto refreshes, but Google sheets likes to glitch out sometimes so I usually go in to post the screenshot each week so it’s somewhere.

Possibly with the API it might need prompting but still weird

Thanks Lore, while you're there check the Spreadsheet Settings might help if it isn't already set.

Opened it in Chrome to check the settings and do a manual retrieve of the data and there was nothing there... as if I never set it up :drunk: Going to be a long year if that keeps happening.

The very, very first time I did this I had a spreadsheet that calculated the ladder based on the results of every game played... I had to type in the results as they were finished 🤣 so I guess it's still an upgrade on that.

Why can't they just publish the thing somewhere in a HTML table 🙄

Hey Lore - love this tool, its very helpful.

One thing i noticed in the draft order tab is the bid matching points required.

Pick 1 to 36 are correct, but 37 to 54 should be 'next available pick' (i.e. 0 points needed).

Refer link from AFL announcement last year:
https://www.afl.com.au/news/1185312/afl-player-movement-and-list-management-changes

Thanks!
Fixed, thanks for noticing and letting me know :)

(Going to put the link to the post where I originally updated the draft values (points) just for posterity:
https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/thre...based-on-current-ladder.1388116/post-85589313 )

So it's a 10% discount for the 18 picks, 84 points discount from 19-36, and 100% discount from pick 37 onwards.

So if we didn't have any compensation picks added or bid matching causing picks to be shuffled to the end of the draft, then this would effectively 10% off round 1, 84 points off round 2, and everything in and after round 3 is free. Once all is said and done though, the last couple of picks in round 1 (the natural picks of the premiers and runners up) will end up getting 84 points off, and probably a third or a half of the second round will be free to match.

I also changed the name of the 'With Discount' column to 'To Match', because it seemed like a good idea at the time...

Yeah the API is overkill for whats needed here.
But hopefully it gets to a point where it's set and forget.

I figured all we needed was a tab with:
Then set up the sheet to look at the Rank column as the ladder source.

This is what I'm getting

Anyway thanks for staying on top of this for us we all appreciate it.

IMPORTXML in general is a shit of a thing to make it work properly. Tried that with some of the other online ladders before resorting to the API... not sure if it will play ball with squiggle's api pages, although what you've got there looks like it might work (it might mean adding another sheet to the thing and at some point Google gets mad at me for overtaxing the system and everything breaks).
