I'd guess 25 go to WA. 23 in the game day squad and one emergency tall and non-tall. With the injury list on the club website naming 12 players, might be as few as seven listed players in the reserves. Francis and Kirk the only two of those 12 a test for this week.

Will Edwards
Aaron Francis
Will Green
Indhi Kirk
Blake Leidler

And whichever of the extended bench players haven't gone over to Perth.

When have three emergencies ever been omitted from the reserves team to travel interstate with the seniors team? Might be two for a long trip away like this one. More often for shorter trips to Victoria and the like only one.

Given we've named both McLean and Ladhams in the 23 for seniors, suspect Buller plays VFL and Paton to be a late out, or plays a half, flies over tomorrow night in case he's needed as sub if we had two late outs.

Yeah, it's a bit confusing. I think it's a very rare occurrence the VFL are playing a day and a bit before the AFL team on the other side of the country!

Maybe he'll go to Melbourne, and fly to Perth from there after the game to be on stand-by?

Could be same for Paton and/or Buller?

I was thinking the same thing. Is the 23rd man/sub rule a bit different in the VFL compared to seniors. As in can they have five players interchanging at the same time all throughout the game? Some here might know.

Or as happens sometimes when from halftime onward one of the 22 take no further part in the game so as to be emergency for seniors, that 23rd player becomes part of the 22?

Just googled it - "23rd man who must be an active 18-19yo player from the club’s development list, an aligned NAB League club or Northern Academy."

Now it makes more sense
