So i will prefix this with he is an absolute jet. He does lack any penetration by foot and this will be the only thing that stops him elevating to "Hird" tier

The only thing? Heppell is no where near as damaging as Hird was with his disposal, be it by foot or hand.

Im going to politely disagree. Hird was far from elite by foot

Not saying Hird is elite by foot, he was just a far more damaging player than Heppell.

You bought up the point that the only thing in your opinion thats stops Heppell from elevating himself to 'Hird Tier' is that he lacks penetration by foot. I think there are way more obvious ones than that (overhead marking/scoreboard impact)

Heppell has a similar ability to know where the ball is going in traffic. He just hasnt developed the genius around the packs that Hird had. Easier back then when there was less players around the footy too.
Thats not to say he will or wont, but he can get the footy from nowhere Dyson. Theres only limited number of players who have that ability to do that regularly.

So on that Hird "tier" there are a few players in the conversation, all with differing qualities.

My argument is if he had penetration in his kicking and was adding 10-15 goals more per year because he could launch from 60m on the run, then there would be very little reasons why Dyson wouldn't be in those conversations for generational type players.

Out of curiosity, would you have Robbie Gray as a generational player by your definition?
