I will wait for him (Heppell) to consistently get tagged week in week out like Jobe did in the past with such a weak midfield around him. Heppell has a star studded, depth of quality midfield around him, Jobe didnt and jobes output was still every bit as good if not better.

Heppell at times struggled with the tag/attention last year. Sometimes he over came it but i think it was more the team around him dominating (ie: Macaffer game).

What was Watson's kicking efficiency last year? My memory has him missing more targets last year than the previous couple. The thing he has never lost is being the raging bull with unbelievable hands in the contest.

What last year showed though is that Heppell has become a major element of the midfield and makes picking a target for a hard tag quite difficult.

Can't tell you kicking but disposal was at 76%. Maybe just his misses were more noticable?

Possibly. I just recall him missing more of the 20 - 30 metre passes mainly from a mark or free. The previous couple of years he'd been drilling them more often than not.

Heppell is what? 21...22?
The elite mids that we are comparing him against... how many of those were at heps level at the same age

I think Heppell is close to, if not the best young player in the comp right now, hopefully he can turn it into pure eliteness

Disposal efficiency is the biggest furffy of a stat.
Yes and no. For an inside mid or someone heavily tagged whose disposal is predominantly under pressure it isn't a meaningful indication of their worth as a player. For a player like an outside mid or a rebounding defender whose role is hitting targets with accuracy it is quite important.

Please dont tell me some players have a 'role of hitting targets' and others not.

That is a gross oversimplification. For some you expect them to be under more pressure so not hitting targets as consistently is less of a knock on them as players. For others who generally get the time and space to use the ball properly but still butcher it frequently poor efficiency is a more legitimate criticism. Disposal efficiency isn't a perfect stat but I don't like writing it off altogether.

Thus why its a furffy of a stat.

Deciding which players have more pressure on disposal than others in a game is really stupid. How do you even measure that. I see heppell kick alot of short balls 20m down the line, easy kicks so his efficiecy would be up, mids get to handball far often, handballs are much easier to hit a target with thus higher efficiency.

Id rather use my naked eye and football knowledge than disposal efficiency as a stat and try to guess who is under more pressure than said player in a game or a season.

No it isn't. You don't just ignore a key factor in any player's output like pressure from opposition just because it can't be measured.

Actually the best judges use both. It is why the stats area has taken off. They are a tool used by coaches and recruiters. No one can simply watch a game and take it all in first shot. the best judges use their naked eye football knowledge and the stats to form opinions.
If you are not using all 3 then you are not fully informed.

I use all 3. DE stat involves about 2% of my decision the 98% is football knowledge and what i know to my eye.

I guess i back myself in more than others do who rely more on furffy stats.

Yeah, who needs stats when you have eyes? I guess all the technicians and analysts in the coaches box are all redundant now we've stumbled across just needing eyes!

Finally got a hair cut.
