The Hun says that the AFL will only agree to the GWS-style trade if the net change in points is >200 points. Hawthorn could try and trade GWS 15 and 18 for 8, but the difference is about 500 points there, so the AFL would block it. I think we have the 2 picks that give the highest benefit to GWS without breaking that 200 point barrier, at least at this stage.

Adelaide could give 13 and 32 for 8 which would give GWS 200 extra points and Adelaide 8,9 in the draft - doubt 20 points will cut it

"Thats ok well just draft him a pick 5" are they serious?

Once the deal is done and we get pick 5 I never want Essendon to deal with St.Kilda again.

They are deranged, if that is the case just swap us for pick 5 and eliminate the risk of another club nominating him in the PSD

Dodoro better not buckle or screw us, pick five + return a 3 round to the saints for JK is fair

I want to deal out punishment on the field so i dont want to completely cut the dwarf burners off

You keep pushing this "you get nothing shit" PSD does not guarantee the Saints will get him
It's a fair bet as we have priced him out of other clubs with a front ended contract.
In the end if we don't get him, we'll still have NSD 5.
I guess that's why the Saints are holding firm, especially after the statement from Carlilse's camp saying he's committed to the Saints.
I hope a deal is settled soon but there are a few stalled ones this year. Interesting that the media aren't as harsh on GCS & Port over Dixon or GWS & Coll over Treloar deals not going thru yet.

Over 40 years on this earth.......Just once Saints......PLEASE!

Well this is a trade between two Victorian clubs, and it has been pretty ridiculous thus far. Easy sell.

Are Saints fans dumb? Did they not hear Carlilse manager say last night they want a trade done and avoid the psd.
Plenty of trades don't get done before the deadline. The manager can't force the clubs to deal.
I hope it doesn't happen but it is a possibility.

Maybe it's because everyone knows the pies are going to give up the 2 first rounders, and port are going to give up their first rounder. They are being flogs like st.kilda

Agreed, I think it will go to anther level or two of ridiculous before something like the 5 & either 2nd or 3rd rounder for Carlilse goes thru and both teams sit back and ask "was it worth all the stress?"

The leverage I think we'll have is we'd be the first team to realistically bid on him at 4. So we can either bid at 4 or let him slip to Melb at 6. The difference btw a bid at 4 & 6 is about 280 points + our 20...300ish.

Then you were offered another deal that meant you could have pick 4, 15, 18, 23 25 or perhaps 4, 8, 15, 25 .. you'd scoff at the 4,5, 23.

What is fair is if we give them pick 41 with Carlisle for pick 5. That way we go to the draft with 4,5, 23, 25 or 4,5, 8. My preference is to have 4, 15, 18, 23, 25. Dodoro has been nailing the drafts since Keane has been on board, though I would like to see a little more x-factor in the team. Perhaps McKenna can bring that to us, but we need a bustling mid and an "anything could happen here" small forward.

Dude, like, those numbers are cursed, man. Like, I used them in the lottery one time, and, well... bad stuff happened.

:drunk: dont worry if they miss out on carlisle they will take hurley off us next year ....considering we apparently overrate all of our players they seem quite keen to take them off our hands

.....and your club isn't trying to win?
It seems both have their stance and both haven't moved much.
I suspect mediation is in order.
Otherwise you get nothing as he'll go to the PSD.
Pick 5 is around fair. If we chuck in our 3rd that is also fair. Many think if we chuck in our second that makes it unders but in accordance with the OOC situation.

My post you have quoted shows how many clubs pay fair value for OOC players and how sometimes players in contract don't lead to fair deals.

Saints look like spankers for chasing Jake and then offering unders, a bit like a club shopping Yarran around and demanding a first round pick.

It's funny, because Carlisle has just as much potential as Hurley.

I agree, his potential best is at a very high level. I would have preferred he stayed for sure. Don't even look at his year this year, he had an injury interrupted pre-season and was thrown around forward and back this year and it certainly held him back.

It is frustrating Saints supporters cannot see he is worth 5. It seems pretty clear to me.
