Would he suit GWS do you think. Would you swap him for a 3rd rounder.
Maybe a third rounder, or possibly a late second.

As to whether he would suit GWS, that depends on what sort of player they need. He'd be a handy forward pocket/half forward in just about any team. Including ours.

Do you need a medium marking target? If so, yes. If you need another winger/midfielder, no.

I think we'd accept just about anything if that club paid all or most of his salary.

Could be a steal for any club who plays him in his best position.

He would have the capability to easily kick 1 goal a game...
I think the 25-30 range if he played a full season...

Gold Coast supporting King would be great, leadership, mongrel and just another avenue to goal
GWs already run a heap of Hybrid types, so no good there
Kangas, maybe, they need another KPF, and while Caddy isn't is, having Larkey, Zurrhaa and Caddy gives them options

What teams give up for him is the question, but there would be a handful of teams who would easily benefit from him being there, even if it was just to protect some of their kids for a couple of years.

honestly reckon hes been treated pretty poorly. surely he has a place up forward. we struggled to take a mark up front and a 2 tall-1 medium-2 small- 1 midfielder forward setup seems reasonable to me. we never had that 3rd forward to occupy the lever/stewart types, and especially once dusty got injured surely he could have taken his place but been say 75% forward.

No other club would want him as his best has sailed on by. Tremendous achievement by him to play in two flags for us, but his lack of pace was always his Achilles.

That is why I feel we have missed the boat and match comity has made a serious error managing Caddy. He has never been blessed with speed, yet we try to make him a winger. IMO he is has a good Footy IQ, has good goal sense and is a good mark for his size. He would have added value in the forward line as a lead up target and help take some of the pressure of Jack and Lynch when he starts scoring goals.

Agree his footy IQ carried him a long way.

100%. The exclusion of him from the team when we've been crying out for goals; with our go-to chaos/forward half pressure game being picked apart every week is patently bizarre. We did nothing to change it. Just stuck to our misfiring guns and kept costing ourselves game after game, especially in the back half.
2021 was the year Dimma refused to change in spite of results and hopefully learnt a valuable lesson.

Would have helped with pressure around stoppages in our forward line. Would be able to play the Townsend role from 17 finals.

Caddy is a victim of the arrival of Tim Lunch - was an excellent foil to Riewoldt until 2019 when big Tom dropped in - no room in our set-up for 2 bigger forwards and a big bodied shorter third marking option.
His 2017 and 2018 seasons were excellent as a support to Jack.

Reckon he will have some suitors - Carlton have cut Casboult and retired Eddie - they need some goalkicking support for Harry.
Behind Owies who is a smaller option their next best goalkickers are all mids.

Curnow?

Forgot about Charlie - if fit he clearly would be a great 1-2 key position forward although I see him and Harry as pretty similar.
Although at his best he averages 1.7 a game - Caddy averaged 2.1 in 2018 and that was with Jack kicking 70.

He could've worked with Lynch and Jack, he never really got the chance to make it work.
As soon as Lynch arrived it was wing or bust for Caddy. Lately he's more a victim of our refusal to adapt our gameplan.

I still don't know why we didn't persist with him as half forward or even forward pocket this year. The experiment as a winger / backman failed almost immediately.

Anyone with the tag "premiership player" will always have currency for a club that is at rock bottom and full of kids. He might end up at North or even Collingwood; any of the cellar dwellers really.

I can't even remember if they were premiership players but we drafted what's his name (Chapman?) from Port and before that, that guy from Hawthorn to play CHB and take some heat from the kids. I think that's what will happen to Caddy next year (as a forward though) and I wish him all the best.

Dropping Aarts and George was definitely called too late. Got to understand though, small fwd pressure was our one wood for many seasons. Hard to put the one wood away when you've been creaming fairways with it for years. Maybe they should have tried Caddy, JR8 and lunch in the fwd 50, it would have been worth a look but you know as soon as the oppo defenders skipped their way out of the fwd line the idea would have been canned....and it would have happened. Cadds is a good footballer at the wrong team...sorry, Cadds is a good, premiership and Richmond life member, footballer at the wrong team.

Reminds me of that bald geelong player that went two?!? more years with another afl club...reckon Caddy is a menace in the forward line no matter how slow he gets...

Tiger71 mentioned this a few months ago also (some personal issues this season for Caddy).
If Caddy returned to 2019 finals or prior it would shoot us into contention again assuming Miller covers Astbury and we got an elite FA as an inside mid. One of Ross, Dow, RCD, or CCJ will step up big time next year. I see one last crack before a 3-4 year hiatus of mining draft picks for our current young core to have a second tilt.
