I cannot believe the Caddy doubters, l said for ages the guy is pure class, and should be playing forward pocket but still love what he offers now. He has grunt and class and won’t get pushed off the ball easy, also can take a mark and uses the ball well. Too many attributes to mention. Oh he is sort of slow blah blah, give it a rest.

Our wings have both been our weakest points this year and I noticed Castagna pushed up to assist Brando and Rioli did the same on Caddy’s side or vice versa depending how we set up. I think Kiwi was saying eventually Castagna moved into Brando’s role.
I think the Rioli with Caddy partnership worked a treat bc it created a slick and powerful sub team and Caddy even snuck forward to kick goals. Caddy also helped Rio Rioli to get off the leash with his physical strength. I’m enjoying these subtle changes the club is making with the boys as it’s catching the opposition off guard. Whereas this time last year we were dried up and looked stagnant where we were predictable and inevitably found out.

Gee you changed your tune. A month ago Caddy was a slow plodder who would be exposed on the wing.

It was based around him being adjusted to that defensive role the club mentioned rather than being a wingman. I think we all know he’s better at attacking than defending. I think the midfield working harder and the HF pushing up has all come together as the side has become more consistent over the past month.

They still have him start defensively and his football smarts help him become a threat offensively.

Do you reckon RT? I noticed when he went on Mitch he was right next to him dead centre of the square. It’s hard to tell watching from TV as you don’t get enough of the view, but his defensive role was more to counteract his opponent and open up space for the smaller brigade. I think Baker has been the bloke that is doing what he was supposed to be doing , which again has enabled him to sneak off into an attacking position. Cotchin and Nakkers returning has really made his job easier as he’s not playing that start stop utility position anymore. He’s looking more natural as a wingman rather than a utility player.
Being a wingman he still needs to make his way down back either to negate his direct opponent or to provide a contest and act as a release.
I don’t know what proof you can provide as I would be interested to see if your starting defensive claim is right. He did have 3 rebound 50’s , but I’m not sure if it was from initially starting off defensively or more to do with the running of play at the time.

i think hes balancing it beautifully

several times he got back in defense and helped out, even smashed a ripper spoil coming over the top inside the lions 50

I must admit I was tough on him, but he’s found another gear on the wing.
He is suited to playing on campaigners like Robbo . The coaches stuffed up starting Ellis on him as he was allowed to open up the game from his side of the wing. Caddy’s strength is he plays hard and strong consistently from A to Z without dropping off and looks faster by the end of the game as others drop off. I’m still concerned of his pace earlier on in games, but he has to be matched up correctly on the right bloke. He’s reinvented himself and is best 22 and the reason why KMac is out. You can’t question his aggression, commitment and heart as he makes players walk taller around him.
He’s definitely not a backmen and I’m glad his wingman role is more of an attacking one than the defensive style one.

I think the way he runs makes him look slower than he actually is, that said he isn't Rioli fast either.

I don't know man that punch on the ball over the top of the Brisbane player launched pretty far.

We walk taller with Caddy in the team, he adds a bit of physicality. If the oppo start to get physical with our youngsters Caddy is always one of the first in there flying the flag.
Big game, finals player - will not be overawed or spooked by pressure and physicality - in fact responds to it.
I'm very secure when Cadd's gets involved in the play.

Starting next to his opponent at the bounce is natural, but from what I've seen in the games since he returned, once the ball is in play he tends to sit defensive side ready to push towards D50 should the opposition win the contest.

Once we have control of the ball/play that is when he uses his smarts to get into dangerous forward of the ball positions.

As I've mentioned elsewhere Ellis is the more defensive winger who gets deeper into the D50, whereas Caddy tends to sit higher to utilise his disposal going into F50 as he is a better more penetrating kick than Ellis.

Is this at me?

If so, fair enough.

But stay in your lane with the tough guy stuff, if he isn’t a plodder you certainly are!
Huh, I directly quoted TI

The last two games of the HA season I watched he played close to his opponent and went the way depending on how the clearance went.IN the two shots i saw at bounces Saturday night he was on our forward side of Robbo in the neutral position.I'm still not sure if your claim is true and i don't have enough evidence on it.
Ellis definitely starts defensive side, yet they tried him more neutral early on Mitch and was torn a big one.

With Broady following behind...

When standing next to the opposition at the bounce I don't think it overly matters if he is on our goal side or theirs, he may line up on the attacking side so that in case we win the clearance, the idea being that we would look to get the ball out to him in space.

However if there is a secondary bounce ive noticed he tends to be in a more defensive position.
