Chol makes an opposition big man accountable whereas Caddy doesn’t.
Caddy doesn’t really make anyone accountable atm bc he doesn’t have a role to play whereas Chol does. This is the problem we have with him.
Caddy when played in his best position makes a 3rd defender accountable at the very least but would also kick more goals than Chol and can rotate through the middle/wing if required.

Nank can come in and do Chol's backup ruck role, but do it even better.

No brainer for me.

It makes our FL too slow. We thrive on defensive pressure up there and I think Caddy doesn’t have that in him. This is why the club has tried to find another role for him. TL has taken away is spot in the FL , so he’s basically been told to adapt/evolve or otherwise he will become extinct.

I think long term to get Caddy back to his best position we need to start using Lynch as the backup ruck. Then Caddy can take Chol's place, giving us a crazy good forward line of Lynch, Riewoldt, Caddy, Martin, Rioli, Castagna, Stack, Lambert and Bolton.

Slower but not too slow I don't think. If he's not too slow to be tried on the wing I reckon the benefits outweigh the negatives of having him play forward. George and Rioli are speedy. Jack and one of Lambert/Edwards/Stack/Bolton all provide good pressure.

Yeah that would be ideal.

I’m concerned about our overall team balance with his lack of pace. Last week with the rain he looked better, but early on he was resembling a tortoise.
Against the Eagles and Bears will tell us where he’s at. Your description above is not quite the role the club described.

finals footy seems to be when the game slows down and bigger bodies become important though. caddys ability to compete particularly marking may be important.

Yeah I just don't get the 'defensive wing' role. If that's the only role they're prepared to give him a chance in then he shouldn't even be in the team. There are better options for that job. No point having him in the side cos he's in our best 22 if you're not going to play him in a suitable position.

Seems to me that Dimma has moved away from the mantra of focussing on what players can do well, rather than what they can't do.

He's a competitive beast, has mongrel, lays big tackles, takes big marks and kicks goals. Let him play.

I was on the ball with him and he’s corrected most of the issues I had with him. Mute point.
Answer what I stated and not deflect the discussion to school kid levels.

haha you absolutely were not on the ball with Lynch

You spent half a day arguing with me that he had reached peak fitness by that point and wasnt showing enough, while i was arguing you should give him more time as having no preseason plays a massive part.

Its moot point btw

No that’s not what we were arguing about. We were arguing about his lack of second efforts and defensive and aggressiveness. Be nice 👍

Yeah Caddy certainly is...now that Cut Lunch is in the side with JR it's starting to be a tight squeeze up forward and even in the side!
I like Caddy and would have him in my side maybe forward pocket?!

Want to acknowledge Caddys game last night, there were plenty who questioned the decision to take him away from the F50 and reprogram him as a winger and last night showed how it was a smart move. When we were trying to turn the tide in the second quarter Caddy had some very important touches and along with Cotchin Prestia Grimes Lambert & Edwards helped turn the tide and get the game back on our terms.

Always believed Caddy would be handy if played through the midfield as he is another big body who can win his own footy and use it well. While he only had it 14 times his impact with those touches was important with 5 I50s 3 R50 2 goals 7 score involvements & 504m gained.

So many of our players do that I reckon, not always massive stats but just find a way to impact the game.
True.

I just pointed out Cads as he hadn’t been great but he helped turn the game last night.

He was very good. His ability to make the most of his scoring chances is second to none in our team, always confident when he has it in F50.
