Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Lance Franklin
DOB: 30 January 1987
DEBUT: 2005
DRAFT: #5, 2004 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Dowerin (WA)/Perth (WAFL)/Hawthorn

37 and Tedeski - have you played competitive sport at any level and played through injury?

Ive been to several bbqs with my inlaws, i think that is the equivalent of playing with injury in the afl

For those occupying the pages of Voltaire's Candide, all is right, 'this is the best of all possible worlds'. C'mon 37, not everything comes up roses.

Either the medicos hoped the groin would come good or they did not want to risk two significant surgeries on the same day or within a short space of time.
Voltaire in reply to Walt Disney. Maybe we are not the best football opinion site but certainly the classiest

"I think he's very hard to defend when he's right up the ground," Longmire told AAP. "When he's playing that high centre-half forward role because of his kicking ability, his kicking is so good hitting targets inside 50.

"He's not just kicking goals but he sets goals up so well and also makes it a bit more difficult for opposition defenders, when to drop off him it gives him space to get back into towards goal.
"Anyway he always finds himself inside 50 so that's never a problem, he always finds himself within range. It just gives him more space to run around, to use his athleticism it makes him harder to defend, so I actually prefer him up the ground."

Looking forward to a more mobile Buddy this year. Could very well be back to his best (not that he wasn't still the best last season)

Horse likes to play everyone up the ground though ;)

He is probably fitter than anytime last year given he didn’t train much.

If he gets through training and feels good he will play I would think.

To save the footy expert anti-Horse cultists...
If he plays and under-performs he should never have played.
If he doesn't play then he should have played because we should have managed his pre-season better.
If we managed his pre-season better and he plays but under-performs then he must be cooked because we expect him to carry the team.
If we didn't manage his pre-season better and he doesn't play God have mercy on Horse's soul.
If he plays and performs he carried the team and will be cooked before the end of the season because we are expecting too much of him.

In New Guinea there are tribes that practice superstitious rituals hoping for miracles to bring them fame & fortune. Cargo Cult.

On Bigfooty there are tribes that practice superstitious rituals* hoping for miracles to bring them Clarko. Clarko Cult.

*Superstitious rituals includes, but is not limited to, bagging the shit out of Horse relentlessly.

Sorry N37. My ??? had nothing to do with Longmire. It was simply questioning your characterisation of folk who express doubts in different ways about Longmire.

Personally I 'voted', whatever that means to give him another year.

I think there is a vast array of views about the coach and his approach to the game and how the team goes about its work.

I think it would be great if we avoid false dichotomies and appreciate the nuances of different views and learn from each other.

Personally, I expect we will win v Bullies by your traditional margin.

Soz B52, my characterization relates specifically to those who express doubts about Longmire in a very specific way. i.e. relentessly bagging the shit out of him....hence the words "relentlessly bagging the shit out of him"
Incidentally it is all part of the real false dichotomy where you either support Longmire (fanbois) or you don't (footy expert).
Incidentally II: are female fanbois still fanbois or fangurlygirls?

Few do N 37.

As an ancient I have no idea what a fanbois is? Are we not all fans of the great mob we support?

Buddy is due to be playing his 300th game in round 10 against Collingwood. If however he misses 3 games he will play his 300th game against Hawthorn at the SCG.

I sort of want Buddy to miss 3 games now.

Meh .... no.... that said I like your timing for that match v Snarko's mob. Early prediction - Buddy to boot 9 and give off 7 scoring chances in a comprehensive win for the good folk.

Pre-2019 season reminder of where Bud sits among the all-time greatest goal kickers. The magic 1000 goals mark not that far away.
