pigeon holing players already?

you don't think he'd make it into the starting line up over someone like Duursma..

I think if we're going to be playing a midfielder in the forward/half forward line, that role will go to Simpkin before it goes to anyone else.

No, I'm pretty confident that Clarko has brought in Parker to be a big experienced body in our midfield to help with the development of our young core. Which is the smart move.

Because of that, he needs to actually play midfield.

I'm pretty confident you don't talk for Clarko..

What are you talking about? That's a nonsense thing to take from what I said.

I wasn't "talking for Clarko". My comments were based on things that people like Alastair Clarkson, Brady Rawlings, and Luke Parker have said themselves.

For example;

Luke Parker on what Clarko said his role would be: "For me, his biggest thing is we need leadership, help out on the field, and steering guys in the right direction and help carry a heavy workload... they've got a really strong midfield group, and a few young boys. When you're 19-20, sometimes it's hard tog et through a full season of AFL football. So it's chipping in and carrying the workload there".

Highlighted for posterity "For me, his biggest thing is we need leadership, help out on the field, and steering guys in the right direction and help carry a heavy workload... they've got a really strong midfield group,"

Did you really take from that he ain't playing on the field and he is only playing midfield?

I think you're getting far too worked up over me listing Parker on the bench and LDU/Wardlaw on the field.

I think we'll see a lot of different permutations throughout the year.

But yes; I primarily think Parker will play midfield. And yes, I think he will have less ToG% than LDU and Wardlaw if everyone is healthy.

And that's not a bad thing! He's 32 years old. He's here to play a veteran role. This is a good outcome for everyone.

Take this thought process and apply it to Powell over a number of others listed.

Okay so you project Powell will play a larger role for NFMC than I do this year. That's fine.

There's absolutely no need to be a dick about it lol.

LDU
Wardlaw
Sheezel
Powell/Parker
McKercher.
Simpkin.
Phillips.

Phillips is eighth in line for midfield minutes. Powell has improved physically again, would seem he could run through there for a full game.

Phillips will be lucky to get 4 bounces a game if picked, with Parker now at the club and McKercher looking seriously promising, fitness wise to roll through there.

LDU, Wardlaw and Sheezel are self explanatory.

Then there is Simpkin, who I don’t feel is actually needed through there, but would be given time ahead if Phillips.

You might be right! Not an unreasonable thing to project at all.

I personally think Powell struggled a bit last year, and that's what's influenced my projections for our team this year.

But there's of course every chance I'm wrong. :)

Yeah that's a reasonable thing to inquire about.

First and foremost, they play a different role.

Moreover, I think Phillips is set for a massive year. He's looking fit and fully recovered from his illness, and I think he knows that this is his last chance. I'm expecting big things from him this season.
You've said the same thing two years running.

Now in his fifth year, improved year on year.

I feel the defensive stuff is overstated. To me, it’s a set up issue with the inexplicable desire to maintain such large distances between players in a defensive zone, without sufficient speed to cover those gaps.

I’m expecting 24 touches a week from Powell, with a bit more outside ball.

You can back Powell in to make AA now.
Staring Star Wars GIF by Disney+

Scott is much more integral to us than Powell, don't know why that's the first player you'd think of instead of Fisher or Konsanty

I'm no Bailey Scott hater, but he kinda fizzled to the finish line last season.

Hope he can get back to his best form.

Death, taxes and Chad potting Powell and somehow picking Phillips over him

Nostra levels of not being able to deviate from an initial view

The heart wants what it wants!

He backs it up with zero football knowledge and some "inside information" that's mostly wrong.
