We've got to the point where he's going up against the oppo's fifth best mid or so, and he's gunna beat most of those.

Versatile too - loves a goal, defensive work still needs attention, but getting there.
He's had a very, very consistent trajectory now - improved, outside of injury, year on year. Both form, fitness and physical size. Almost textbook development. Agree defensive hustle is an area of improvement but outside of that the only real question is what his ceiling is.

We drafted him as an offensive creative mid, so not too worried if its his defensive work that's his weakness.

Not sure re ceiling, he had nine goals and 13 goal assists last season.

If he can get that up to 15 and 20 then he's a serious attacking midfield player imo.

He doesn't need to be a defensive bull per se, but he needs to have the fitness to be able to provide better cover and positioning.

Yeah, agreed, has to run both ways. He's an absolute weapon in transition going forward though, brilliant mix of smarts and skill.

Having the vision to see this opportunity is one thing, having the ability to execute the kick another altogether.

Didn’t he also finish in the 6 for the 2k early in the year?

That could be a huge difference in him taking the next step and having the endurance to be more defensive and two way.

If he can add that to his game - he’ll be a very complete footballer.
In the 1-4th year players

I reckon it’s a confidence thing as much as anything, they go into their shell when things don’t go according to plan.

L.Parker’s voice out there will be massive.

Yeah, and Daniel helping marshall the defence.

The Dogs were good at ensuring he wasn't isolated often, we were poor at that last year with Fisher back there.

Its very telling we recruited to get experience on every line.

Our forwards, especially the talls, are going to get an object lesson is what actual pressure looks like.
And repeat leading beyond the first ten minutes of a quarter.

Our forwards as a group have not worked hard enough for years.

Agree on above x a zillion.

We haven't really had a settled forward group either.

Lackey, Curtis and Cam only constants over last three years.

The best performed player across the pre-season.

Working his ass off in the gym and on the track, taken his off field stuff to another level and taken his mentality to another level (Like Phillips he was one that had a little bit of self doubt, but he feels like he is now an AFL player).

Notably leaner, kicking goals with his strength/functional fitness and improved his running considerably.

Been told to expect a high level of consistency and effort from Powelly this year.
