Player Watch #24: Tom Powell - signed thru 2026 - finishes 5th in the 2024 SBM.

Disagree on Simpkin and Parker, and George hasnt put the body of work together that Powell has.

Our best midfield for me is LDU, Sheezel, Powell, with Simpkin and Parker rotating through for a smaller amount of CBAs. Phillips as well.

Mckercher needs to stay outside and Duursma isnt best 22.

No where near as deep as you make it out to be at the moment.

Tom is a good midfielder, and could be a gun one day. I just don't want to see him at centre bounces.

I mention them because they had a clear approach. Obvious Day missing early affected things, but basically they chose their best four mid centre square rotation and stuck with it till it worked - this always takes time. For the first half of the year it was a shambles as the players learnt to play with other. Then suddenly it clicked.

We need Xerri, LDU, Wardlaw, Sheezel, Simpkin and Parker to spend as much time working together as possible. Whenever we take out Harry to give time to Powell or Phillips, we are hurting both our performance and team's development. It's poor coaching, and if we are serious about improving, it needs to stop.

23yrs old, can run, can find the ball, has gotten better every year, loves the club and usually uses it well. Calm down people.

Not sure I agree on the running part defensively. Ball use (70% DE, 61% KE, 3 clangers) needs to be better.
One game sample size but has improved stats mostly from last season, but still rated average for clearances.
Will be an interesting watch to see how much he improves during the season.

He is good on the inside. Colby should also be in there as well. There is a reason our clearances can suck at times, other than LDU we don't have players working the second level. His ball use was a bit crappy but is regularly very good to elite so no worries there.

I’d never heard of this campaigner KSI before today. Had a listen. Yeah it’s ****ing awful. Mind you, so are most of the goal songs to be fair.

The best part of the goal songs is you can’t actually hear them if your standing behind level 1 seating.
