i really wanted the club to turn to him as captain post-Jobe.

Such a great leader and clubman.

This guy bleeds red and black and if anyone deserves to play in a flag it’s him. Loved hearing on the EFC video that he tries to get the ball to the younger guys (mozzie) to get them involved in the game. Congrats on the 200 chook, hopefully the boys get up for him.
 
My favourite - just gives everything every week and never says die. How many games has he won for us when forward? He lifted us again against Hawthorn with his passion and energy.

We missed a trick with Hooker - spent years experimenting with Hurley and Carlisle as forwards when he was actually the best of them. We realised it too late. Would have been good for 50-60 a year when he was younger.

Will never forget his goal against hawthorn in 2015. Probably my favorite essendon win in the past 15 years.

One of my all-time favourite games.

He hit that kick so badly but it never looked like missing. Watch the replay and he’s celebrating as soon as that beautiful, inside-out mongrel leaves his boot.

This was my favourite Hooker performance. And there’s been a few, he has a knack of getting involved with match winning goals. But this last two mins. He simply won the game for us. Refused to lose.



To start with, he just bundles Davis - a strong and very good defender - out of the way. Put him flat on his arse. And without a second’s thought, sweeps a huge handball out to a running Smack, who goals to draw us level.

Then skip to 2:45. This was right in front of where I was sitting... he was out of position here, but simply willed himself to this contest. And hit it like a train. He gathered the ball and had an opponent right in his face. He literally just picked the bloke up and threw him to the ground in real getthefu**outtamyway fashion. Then he shovelled the ball off to a kicker and was already on his bike back to goal, knowing we needed a marking target. Whaddaya know, the ball goes forward and in a flash, he’s there under it. He’s made that much ground, busting a gut at the end of the game. You can hear how utterly impressed Carey is with what he’s done.

Marks. Goals. We win.

fu** me, if we had 22 Cale Hookers we’d in a bloody good spot. What a player, what a man, geddimupereiwannaboofim.

Pretty much this. Love the chook, love his passion for the club. Was also at that game, huge last qtr. Huge.
 
Downside: we suck at milestone games.

I'm a WCE supporter but would just like to register my disgust at the Fox Footy team's disrespectful treatment of Cale Hooker on the occasion of his 200th game on Tuesday night. The man has been a warrior of your football club and should have been given the respect that anyone who plays 200 games deserves.
What Fox Footy did was belittling and totally unacceptable... it wasn't even funny!
